ericandersnavy (1039), crossroads, Texas, USA Jul 13, 2008 bottle thanks to swalden 28. pours a hazy amber with a tan head. aroma was that of grapefruit and hops. flavor was caramel, grassy hops, and floral. almost like chewing on a flower. i did like this one though. would like another please. Hophead22 (1056), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA Jul 13, 2008 Pours a nice dark amber, tan head that lasts and laces up nice. Hops dominate the aroma and the palate with a hint of malt in the backround. Mellows a little as it warms. very good Mrthirstyneck (341), Minnesota, USA Jul 12, 2008 for an amber ale, it’s awefully Ipa-ish! Which is a good thing. Deep dark orange-RED color. huge faomy light tan head that laces like a banshee. Mostly hops on the aroma though i picked up a little malt sweetness too. taste is lots of hops with good amounts of sweet malts poking through, really nice beer. Finish is grapefruity hoppiness with nice malts mixing in. Finish seems to last a while and transfer to mostly a bitter dry grapefruit! Great beer! timfoolery (482), California, USA Jul 11, 2008 Updated: Jul 14, 2008Bottle from Co-op in Davis, CA. I had a little taste of this one, but definitely want to try it again. It had the hints of grapefruit, typical of GF. Only, it was fuller and maltier, which is consistent with an Amber. Very good amber ale! mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA Jul 10, 2008 Bottle (6.0%) Bev4Less. Thick looking pour. Rich head. Dark amber/maroonish in color. Sticky citric hop aroma. Some sweetness. Thick and bitter. Some grapefruit peel. Some maltiness. Very good amber ale. Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA Jul 8, 2008 Pours a copper color with a tan head. Aroma is strong of citrus and pine hops with some caramel malts in the back. Flavor is sweet at first with the caramel malts and finishes bitter from the pine and citrus hops. Flavor lingers for awhile. guzzler67 (1272), Hanover, Maryland, USA Jul 7, 2008 Cloudy, reddish brown appearance with a large, lasting, tan head and good lacing. Pungent pine/citrus hop aroma. Assertively hopped, earthy taste; pine and citrus again, modestly balanced with caramel malts. Medium-to-full bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel; bitter, lingering finish. If, in fact, this is an amber ale, then it is my favorite to date. But it leaves more of an impression as a solid IPA. Goodgrief (1144), Middletown, Delaware, USA Jul 7, 2008 Beer pours a beautiful amber copper color with lots of little yeasties suspended in solution. The aroma was pine and the flavor was that of caramel malts, really sweet but the perfect amount of piney and resinous hops to balance this out. A lot going on in this one. Really nice.
