| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jul 3, 2008 12 oz bottle. Clear, but dark, orange brown with a whipped bone head that settles to a float. Coating lace. Nose is spicy orange, dough and lime zest. Medium mouthfeel with a creamy hoppiness and a light tingle. Taste is smooth pith, pepper and lemon custard. Almost no sweetness but not overly bitter. An interesting take on an amber. Skeegle (486), Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 3, 2008 Excellent amber ale, really tastes like an american pale/IPA mix. Nice grainy rye taste in the beer that compliments the earthy hops very well. Overall a nice beer with some kick and also balanced. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA

Cloudy reddish amber body with a small creamy tan head that persists. Sweet earthy malt, tea and floral hop aroma. Earthy malty flavor, some caramel, tea and floral hops with a mild bitter finish. Medium body with moderate carbonation. WinoInTraining (104), Longmont, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 2, 2008 Red mahogany color. Frothy head, minimal lacing. Sweet pine resin, malt, lite smoke? on the nose, or is that the BBQ on my hands? Sweet and rich on the palate. Nice biters and not too malty which is good. For all those IPA lovers, this will satisfy, but purists will think its a bit heavy-handed. Not bad for a hoppy red ale! mi gusta Beaver (596), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Jul 1, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a light reddish brown with a medium sized frothy off white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet caramel malts and resinous piney hops with a touch of alcohol.
The flavor is sweet caramel malts, nuts and some sugary fruit quickly followed by a big bitter resinous grassy hop finish that lingers in the charry aftertaste. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly watery.
Overall, a one dimensional brew for the hop lovers. I prefer a little more balance and the brighter hops. Ernest (4483), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jul 1, 2008 Bottle.
Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting.
Body is clear dark amber.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately to heavily hoppy (resin), with a light note of black tea.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter.
Medium to full body, velvety/creamy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Being a hophead is prerequisite for this one, i.e. not needing much else in the aroma to be pleased. It’s a solid effort for what it is (especially in the appearance and mouthfeel departments), but it’s just too rough-edged and one-dimensional to be exciting for me. Definitely west coast styled. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA

Pours a gorgeous reddish opaque amber with a creamy beige head and lots of lacing.
Smell is sweet and hoppy. Balanced with zesty rye like grain smells and earthy, spicy and fruity hops. Very nice. Taste is crisp, sharp and hoppy, yet flavorful malt and sweetness is not far behind. Very rye like, spicy and delicious. Tastes incredibly fresh and leaves a nice satisfying bitterness. Rich body, with crisp carbonation. Wow, what a fantastic beer, especially for not having heard of it before! Really can’t find any flaws. Thanks again for this one! pepsican (885), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA
