Big time hop nose, impressive smelling. Hints of grapefruit and big time resin. Basically it smelled like a big sack of hops. Flavor is big on resinous hops and packs a punch. Nicely hopped, but also a nice malt backing as well. This was a very nice red ale. marcus (1853), Sacramento, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 29, 2008 This dark amber ale poured with a decent tan head and a floral and caramel malt aroma. This beer is seriously hopped. However, the sweet caramel malt base offsets the hop bitterness, resulting in a nicely balanced flavor. Maddog (235), Kettering, Ohio, USA

This beer has several characteristics. Caramel malts, spicy, dry and hoppy all combine to make this unique beer. The aroma is very fresh and floral. I would not kick this beer out of bed for sure, but not my favorite style. I do applaude Green Flash for creating a different beer. Aubrey (2774), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 28, 2008 Deep amber-red. Hazy with floaties. Nice head; really sticky, foamy lace. Mouthfeel was full and chewy. Rich malts were filled with caramel, nuts and toffee. Boston baked beans, too. Very lush and aromatic hops ... grassy, piney, snappy. Nice bitterness to boot. Really tasty stuff. I loved it. mj (4998), Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 28, 2008 Nice pungent grassy dry-hopped nose, a bit of caramel and cedar wood notes as well, similar flavor, very dry, sharp, pungent and fresh hops, but also a bit more of a caramel chewiness. Mostly just an aggressive and bitter IPA, but overall very drinkable and well-made. Not as outstanding as their West Coast IPA but that’s a tough one to match. Vas19 (299), Maryland, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 28, 2008 Pours red brown with a thick tan head. Nice piney hop aroma with a hint of malt in the background. Bold malty flavor with a lot of resinous hop as well. The lingering hop resin dominates a little too much for me. Otherwise a good beer. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 28, 2008 Bottle (12oz). Deep ruby-mahogany pour, clear, with a large lasting straw-coloured foamy head. Grainy aroma, dry cereal with dry pungent resin hop bitterness. The taste - very bitter and grainy, but I get something like crushed grapeseed in the finish - and it’s a long, dry resin finish at that. Soft, thick mouthfeel, very dry with only mild carbonation, but a long quenching, almost burnt bitter finish ---- excellent sipper. LilBeerDoctor (1493), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 27, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark brown/amber with a thick light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of flowery hops, sweet caramel malt, slight hint of citrus hops. Flavor is hops, hops, hops. Bitter flowery hops. Less malt presence than I’d prefer in an amber. As a super fan of ambers, I was really excited to try this one, but it let me down a little. Too much bitterness, too little flavor.
