Commercial Description:
Resinous hop character and bitterness balance the rich caramel malt base. We took it a step further and Amarillo dry hopped the brew to 45 IBUs, creating refreshing and savory hop flavors and aromas. Is it Red IPA? That’s your call.

Pours an insanely cloudy amber colour with loads of particulates, with some suspended and some settling out quickly. Perfect rings of creamy lacing are left with each gulp. The nose is resin-like pine, grapefruit citrus, grass, cucumber and soap. The flavour is extremely bitter. A boquet of hop flavours including pine, grass, lemon and earth grace the palate. It definitely tastes hoppier than 45 IBU’s would normally suggest. The palate is chewy and relatively creamy in texture.

12 oz bottle from Bev4less. Pours a hazy amber color with a big off-white head that showed good lacing and long retention. The aroma is rich with cascade hops, citrus and caramel. The flavor follows the aroma, lots of biter citrus and caramel; this reminds me of a boldly ramped-up version of SNPA. The mouthfeel is full and malty. The finish is long with lingering caramel. Overall: I would not call this an amber ale, this is an APA, and its a very good one. Recommended.

Bottle. Pours a hazy dark amber, with a a one finger, creamy off-white head. Nose is primarily citrus hops and sweet caramel malt. Taste starts off with sweet malt, then the bright citrus hops before settling into a lingering, prickly bitterness on the finish. Mouthfeel is smooth, a little tingly.

Reddish amber, moderate head, decent lacing and retention. Aroma is somewhat hoppy, fruity with grapefruit and citrus, caramel and crystal malt base. Medium bodied, moderate to low bitterness and sweetness. Fairly tame.

Bottle. Mildly hazy red pour with an ecru head. Nose was quite subtle, with a citrus/caramel/mocha note. Taste was also subtle; the hops introduced themselves and joined the malty-citrus overtones. Mouthfeel was very smooth and the aftertaste reminded me of the saying about the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. Very interesting stuff going on there.

Bottle. Reddish body, medium off-white head, somewhat resiny hop nose with some caramel sweetness behind it. I’m not sure how you dry-hop something to 45 IBUs, and I cannot believe that the brewer himself made that statement. Moderate bitterness, bit of metallic CO2 in the start, tingles a bit on the tongue, astringency in the finish, not terribly sweet. There are some good bready things hiding underneath all this random bitterness and astringency, but they can’t emerge. 7 3 6 2 10 RERATE: Astringency disappeared as the CO2 gassed off; nice fruity character with good hop balance.

The color was amber/red. The head was creamy, thin, and white. The aroma was amarillo hops, sweet, and citris. The flavor was strong amarillo, sweet fruit, and citris. The palate was full-bodied. The finish was way/hoppy.

Pours a deep copper ruby red. The head is about a finger thick creamy and tan. The nose is sweet and hoppy, spicy, a tad earthy and herbal, malty backbone definitely evident, caramel. Interesting nose. The flavor is interesting. There is a flavor that I can’t quite describe. Earthy herbal hops, spicy hops, caramel, malt, bitter waxy feel. Has a nice mouthfeel and spicy waxy palate. The finish leaves an interesting flavor in your mouth. Overall an interesting beer. Also not too sure this is an amber ale.
