nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jun 15, 2009 Source: 12 oz bottle from Bruisin Ales. Glass: Shaker. Appearance: Poured a clear dark red color with a one finger off white head. Aroma: Resin and caramel malt. Flavor: Caramel malt base with a strong resin and citrus finish. Palate: Medium body with solid carbonation. Overall: Excellent Amber ale. Would tend to classify this more towards an IPA, but a solid beer nonetheless.
Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Jun 14, 2009 Decent sized tan head of fine bubbles. Light carbonation. Nicely balanced aroma between the malts and hops presence. Some floral hops, boiled vegetables and some sweet malts. Color is a crimson brown with a good bit of chunky floaters in there. Big hops presence in the flavor with lots of flowers, qrapefruit pith, roasted grains and some sticky malts. Bittterness hits you up front and late swallow and lingers for quite a while. A pretty good brew if you are a hop head but a little bit more than I like. mirjukka (695), LOHJA, Finland Jun 14, 2009 bottle 355ml 10€ shared at Hilpeä Hauki 170409 Hilarious American Weeks. dark copper few white bubbles oily look grqapefruity hops malty sticky hoppy body. Heavy weight summer beer for rainy cold day. sayravai (3720), Helsinki, Finland Jun 13, 2009 (Bottled) Very hazy darkish red-amber with lots of small, floating particles, and a smallish, firm and lacy head. Very flowery-perfumy aroma with strawberry fruitiness and caramely malt. Strongly aromatic-hoppy, caramely-malty flavor with lots of fruitiness, but also slight ashy-acidic notes. The hop profile reminds me of NBE, which is a good thing :). Medium body, medium carbonation. The caramely-fruity malt and flowery-perfumy hops mix pretty well, with the only failure being the slight ashiness. I guess this would be great fresh from the tap. livelaughlovep (96), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Jun 11, 2009 Nose is hops: Pineapple, flowers, and perfume. Hint of cookie in there also. Flavor is sharply bitter, simple flavor of grassy, perfumed floral hops. Bit of bread/cookie in the finish. I’m somewhat disappointed by the one-layer flavor this has; sharply and lastingly bitter, with none of the assorted richness/layers of flavor I associate with extra-hopped beers. Texture is watery with a slight oily-after feel. Ungstrup (14754), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 10, 2009 Draft. A slightly hazy brown beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and grapefruit, but mainly hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, straw, and grapefruit, leading to a bitter finish. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Jun 7, 2009 Bottle 12fl.oz. @ home. Clear medium amber red color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, pine, grapefruit, orange. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20090119] Heathen (723), Riverside, New Jersey, USA Jun 4, 2009 THOUGHTS: Not as good as their West Coast IPA, but still very nice. Sort of like a west coast with more of a malty backbone; more so in the aroma than in the flavor. I usually prefer malty to hoppy amber ales, but this was nice.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a murky, medium brownish, coppery red with small to large particles in the body of an average to thick density and an average, creamy, light tan head that slowly diminished, keeping a nice sheet and leaving excellent lacing. The aroma was moderate cookie, caramel and biscuit malts, ever so slight milk chocolate, moderate to heavy grapefruit and orange hops, tea and light tobacco. The initial flavor was sweet, acidic and bitter; while the finish was very sweet, acidic and rather bitter with a fairly long duration. There was citrus hops, grapefruit and orange, caramel malt, biscuit, tea and then a little metallic hops. Yeasty too. The medium body had lightly fizzy carbonation and a ever so slightly metallic and lightly astringent finish.
