4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 tseo (134) - Athens, - DEC 4, 2012Aroma: Very hoppy and tangy (Like limes, maybe?), also remniscent
of caramel and strawberries. Potent malt aroma, too. Excellent.
Mouthfeel: Creamy, smooth and substantial.
Taste: Bold bitterness. Sourish underneath. Pine and cirtus fruit
amongst other things on the palate. Round and intense.
Finish: Increasingly dry and bitter. Makes you wanna go for
another one, or two.
Overall: Outstanding beer.

Great ruby color and bright, grapefruity nose. Peach or apricot underlie shining grapefruit and pine of massively aromatic hops, with a caramel malt backbone. All at once dry yet sweet, bitter yet smooth. A perfectly balanced beer for a hophead!
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Gramoit (248) - AUSTRALIA - MAY 12, 2013
Draft: Bottle from the Pumphouse. Big hoppy and caramel aromas and Flavours, that work very well together. Genuine Red IPA.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 mzaar (881) - Varberg, SWEDEN - MAY 10, 2013
Flaska.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Steverus0 (68) - Shreveport, Louisiana, USA - MAY 9, 2013
What a pleasant and quite interesting brew.
The depth in hops would make this brew stand out from the crowd even absent the fine luster of caramel and well balanced malts typical of a good red.
Green Flash has something here for certain. Full of character and depth.

I love me some Amarillo in a ruby hued bottle of glory. Aromas are roses and grass.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 chinchill (568) - South Carolina, USA - MAY 7, 2013
An East Coast/West Coast showdown tonight, with a Westbrook IPA (12 oz can; date stamp shows it was canned only 3 weeks ago) up against Green Flash Hop Head Red (12 oz bottle; marketed as a “red IPA”; plenty fresh with a best by date of 10 Dec., 2013). The Hop Head Red pours a hazy, dark red-amber with a small tan head that has poor retention; not unusual for an IPA.
Aroma: A solid sweet malt presence overlaid with earthy, fruity and spruce hops. Slightly musty. Less striking and fresh hop aroma than the Westbrook.
T: A less complex hop mix than in the Westbrook. The claimed IBU of 70 seems even higher than expected versus the 60 IBU of the Westbrook. Moderate-high grapefruit peel bitterness in the finish and aftertaste.
M: Medium body with medium carbonation; slightly harsh.
O: This red IPA had less hops in the aroma yet was more bitter and earthy. A bit disappointing and overall less appealing than the Westbrook IPA.

Draft to taster. Looks solid; a transparent copper with ample foamy light beige head. Smells solid too; caramel malt and a balanced blend of hops. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Decent beer.

Bottle (12 oz). Dark brown with a medium beige head and some lacing. Aroma is hoppy with resinous notes, caramel and citrus/tropical fruits. Taste is slightly to moderately sweet with resinous presence, caramel, citrus/tropical fruits Medium body. Medium carbonation. Superb balance between malt and hops that make this beer quite complex, but still refreshing aplenty.
