Delightfully clear reddish amber in color with a thick head and oozing lace. Lots of caramel sweetness and crystal malts to balance the green hoppiness. Somewhat creamy. Resinous finish. It’s like the beer gods are smiling on me. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA May 6, 2008 Tasted at the Brewery in Vista, CA--Rich amber body with a bold, frothy whitish head. Floral hop aroma. More floral than bitter. Well built. One of the best beers to date! lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA Jul 1, 2008 Bottle bonused in trade from stefanje. Thanks!
Pours a gorgeous reddish opaque amber with a creamy beige head and lots of lacing.
Smell is sweet and hoppy. Balanced with zesty rye like grain smells and earthy, spicy and fruity hops. Very nice. Taste is crisp, sharp and hoppy, yet flavorful malt and sweetness is not far behind. Very rye like, spicy and delicious. Tastes incredibly fresh and leaves a nice satisfying bitterness. Rich body, with crisp carbonation. Wow, what a fantastic beer, especially for not having heard of it before! Really can’t find any flaws. Thanks again for this one! kidmartinek (972), austin, Texas, USA Jul 22, 2008 Updated: Jul 16, 2009Deep amber with a foamy, thick 1.5" tan head. Balanced hop aroma with a strong floral presence. Aroma is also of strong caramel malt with a hoppy, spicy accent. Sediment in suspension is clearly visible in the glass. Full, delicious, balanced hop flavor that is heavy and very bitter. The caramel malt is an undertone. Smooth, light and creamy texture. So much character, you almost can’t handle it, but then you handle it. Consistency is medium-thick, and satisfying. Clean, bitter finish. These hopped up American red ales are the new IPAs. God blessed Texas and Amarillo hops. This could unseat your other favorite. beergod (97), Houston, Texas, USA Aug 28, 2008 Bottle into pint glass. This beer pours nicely nice size head. Very nice dark amber color, scent is of citrus piney predominantly. Nice hoppy flavor that is perfectly balanced with a perfect amount of malt. Payed about 11 bucks a six pack and I’d do it again!!! hoplover (166), Corpus Christi, Texas, USA Aug 5, 2008 Wow! This Amber Ale is my favorite! Iv’e tried a few amber ales but none with enough hops to balance the maltiness out. This great beer pours a beautiful, slightly hazy copper color with a tan fluffy head that sticks around till the fat lady sings. GREAT lacing. The head gives off an aroma of great citrusy Amarillo hops, (which I love). Also nice caramel / toffee malt aroma. The flavor is hoppy and malty. Much resin and pine flavor. A little earthy too. And oh so smooth on my palate. With a nice lingering bitterness. Wow! This is so goooood. Thank you Green Flash Brew for this hoppy amber brew.
The Lord bless the hop harvest! RHeastings (381), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 23, 2009 Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a pub glass on several occasions. So, this is one of my death row beers; what I would drink right before they give me the shot. The nose is just ridiculous. The flavors are unbelievable. I’ll try to be somewhat objective in my description.
The beer pours a medium copper with a slight white head. The aroma shows notes of Columbus hops (which seem to be in all of Green Flash’s best beers) and a nice balance of caramel. The palate initially shows some sweetness, but soon gives way to the aforementioned hops. I get hops first, but a really nice caramel note that seems to blend almost perfectly with the hops. The finish is what I would call medium-sweet...not cloying, but not really all that dry. Overall, just an unbelievable sample; one that you dream about and score in high quantities whenever the beer gods smile on Pittsburgh and deliver lots of it to western Pennsylvania.
