Nice aroma as beer is poured, smells of citrus, and will undoubtedly provide a nice flavor, color is of amber orange with a light haze in the beginning clearing as it sets for a while, the head is minimal. First taste delivers a big hop taste of grapefruit but does have some sweetness on the light side. Overall I would recommend this beer to anyone who likes Ales. Vac (2394), San Diego, California, USA

It’s slightly sweet with a great grapefruity and piney hop note and great malty undertones. medium to full bodied and smooth. frylock (1029), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 12, 2008 Pretty coppery red color beneath a light tan head. Toasty cereal aroma with plenty of resinous hops accompanied by hints of apricot. Grassy hop bitterness accompanied by light cereal malts. Lingering hops, but there is drinkability here and it never seems bracing. hopdog (5631), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

Aromas of floral green hops, citrus, and a little ’soapy’. Tastes of floral hops, citrus, and toasted caramel. Nice bitter to sweet balance in the tastes. Lacing left on the glass. oldno7 (137), Spokane, Washington, USA

With notes of caramel, malts, hops, mandarin, pine and maybe a little chipotle in the aftertaste. Overall a very good beer ! | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 9, 2009 Pours a nice deep murky amber into the glass, with tons of granulated yeasty "floaties". The head is offwhite, 1-finger, dense, diminishing to window-wash lacing. The nose is of big floral and grassy hops. Flavors are excellent, and very similar to their West Coast IPA... some drier pale malt, biscuit flour, light grapefuit/citrus, and tons of dry-hopped Amarillo bitterness. The finish is pine resin and biscuit flour. This is indeed an IPA, albeit red or whatever color (the palate doesn’t lie). IBU’s actually feel a bit stronger than 45 units, but I could be mislead. The mouthfeel is almost chewy/sticky, but cleanses the palate well, and is an accepted quaff. This is a bit complex and strong for a traditional amber ale, but regardless of the categorization, this is indeed a superb offering from Green Flash! IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 6, 2008 Poured a clear mahogany with a fizzy/frothy off-white head. Aroma of pine and grass, some slight earth, a touch of alcohol, some caramel malt. Flavor is assertive and hoppy with notes of some light citrus, some grassy hops, a touch of biscuity caramelly malt and a touch of metallic dryness to the finish. An amber ale? I had this pegged as an APA, though it is somewhat malty. Nice west-coast hop presence combined with some chewy malt makes this a heck of a stand-out session brew. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 17, 2009 Bottle (in NZ). Looks alluring in the glass, with a big frothy off-white head. I love the fruitiness of Amarillo, so I’m easily sold on this. A sticky resinous on the palate, that works well with the rich and light toastedness of the malt, with a touch of pepper in the finish.
