| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 3, 2009 12 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with blutt59. Pours a hazy amber with a moderate off-white head that lasted through the first third of the glass and leaves lots of tiny pinpricks for lace. Very pleasant aroma of grapefruit along with some notes of sweet malt. The flavor is less fruity and more pith with grapefruit bitterness washing over a moderate malt and caramel backbone. Bitter finish. Solid beer. alobar (1056), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 17, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours murky copper color with a lot of floaters and a thick, lasting orangey tan head that leaves ample lacing. Aroma is mostly piney hops but a nice base of chewy malts is also apparent. Likewise, the flavor features some complex, malty esters topped with fresh aromatic hops. Balances rather dry. Medium full bodied with moderate carbonation. This is definitely more than a standard amber/red ale and also doesn’t fit the IPA/DIPA style. I might call it an American strong ale, along the lines of Arrogant Bastard (but slightly toned down).

Pours amber with a one finger off-white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of citrus hops, sweet malt, and caramel. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness. Very good. illinismitty (1811), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 13, 2008 Bottle from State Line in Elkton, MD. Pours a deep amber red with an off white, retentive head. Nice lacing. Caramel and citrusy nice. Caramel malt base, with some husky grain countered by a big grapefruit and pine bitterness. Hoppy finish is dry, earthy, with a lingering tea like bitterness. Amber? RRRRRIGHT. Maybe to San Diego standards. No complaints though.
