hellbilly (768), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA May 3, 2008 listed as an amber @ papago. pours a very rich looking dark amber with a frothy head. it leaves behind lots of sheet-y lacing. initial aroma of fresh green hops... leads to lots of pnw hoppiness, pine, grass, grapefruit, chocolate and some caramel. it’s hard to taste anything but hops and caramel at first as the bitterness destroys my palate. as it warms though, it begins to sweeten and show some grapefruit pith, berries, soap/floral and some alcohol. nice dry bitter pine hop finish which lingers. medium body, smooth mouth feel and vibrant carbonation. this would be a decent ipa... weird amber, though.
Lt_Dan (4), California, USA does not count Jul 24, 2008 Had it fresh on tap at the Smoke House in Downtown LA. Think kick ass west coast IPA with a kiss of sweet malt. blankboy (2489), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 16, 2008 Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange-amber with lots of sediment and an average to large size lasting foamy off-white head. Hmmm, all the other ratings say theirs is clear, I wonder if I got an old bottle? I thought this was a pretty new beer? Oh well, no date on the bottle so who knows. Nice aroma of sweet malt and a resiny hop medley (grassy, piney and citrusy) along with some grain and fruit. Flavour follows the aroma with sweet malt and resiny hops, nicely balanced, and with a long dry bitter finish. Medium bodied. Carbonation’s just right for the style. Great stuff, easy to drink and no sign at all of this being past it’s due, I’m glad I have more! illidurit (315), Santa Cruz, California, USA Jul 16, 2008 On tap at The Red in Santa Cruz. Poured into a nonic. Dark copper but not too dark to see that it’s perfectly clear. Light tan head leaves ample lacing. Aroma is on the hoppy side, with a rather herbal quality coming through more so than the typical grapefruit. Flavor is similar. Lots of dry leafy hops with a touch of citrus, and only a bare minimum malt profile. Lack of malt makes this beer thinnish. bitbucket (1473), Kirkland, Washington, USA Jul 15, 2008 Bottle. Pours clear coppery amber with a lacy off-white head.Medium body and carbonation. Citrus and toffee nose and taste. Earthy finish. Zinister (830), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 15, 2008 Thanks to stefanje for this beer. Pours a very dark red tea with nice head that leaves some artistic lacing. Hop nose is very fresh and ripe...grapefruit and some honey. Flavor is pretty much and amber with a huge amount of hops...which is fine by me. Big, bitter and tasty. Finish is simply pithy flavors. Considering I like hops...I love this beer. Thanks stefan!
