Bottle from Co-op in Davis, CA. I had a little taste of this one, but definitely want to try it again. It had the hints of grapefruit, typical of GF. Only, it was fuller and maltier, which is consistent with an Amber. Very good amber ale!

Sep 6, 2008 This is why I drink beer. Beer pours reddish with big retained off white head and lots of lacing. Big time citrus hop aroma, but there is a malt presence lurking there in the background. I could smell this beer for a long time and not tire of it. Taste is juicy, green hops with just a touch of malt sweetness. This is a much more balanced beer than their West Coast IPA which is one dimensional and bracingly bitter. I like this one better. A fabulous addition to the Texas beer scene!

Sep 5, 2008 Bottle, thanks Harry. Looks great - dark amber, small lively off white head. Toasted malt, oily hops, some caramel sweetness is nice aroma. Taste is decent - bit of a watery amber body, some malt sweetness, some hops (not as many as the name would suggest) - it was enjoyable but just did not come completely together for me - perhaps it is the hops used, I do not think I like the flavour. Anyway, I do like the beer overall, I was just expecting something a little better.

Sep 5, 2008 Murky red/brown, small thick lasting beige head.Piney citrus nose. Good hop profile, both citrusy & bitter, full bodied malt backbone.
Would have been a higher rating if it wasn’t so unappealingly murky

does not count  Sep 1, 2008 Tasted this ale on draught. While the cereal malt base slightly outweighed the hop character of this red ale, the Green Flash Hop Head Red achived its goal of a more bitter red. Head lasted for the most part but could be stronger. Solid dry texture, what one would expect from a comparable IPA. Overall, a quality brew, and worth a try.

Aug 30, 2008 12 oz bottle from EZ Liquors. Pours a hazy red amber with an average to large creamy beige head. Pine tree aroma with a slight touch of caramel in the background. Flavor falls very flat compared to the aroma but there is lots of fresh hop notes along with some grain. Medium bodied with a strong bitter finish. This beer is nice but why the hell is over $11 a six pack especially considering that it’s only 6% alcohol.
