Sampled on draft at Dad’s Pub & Grub this beer poured a black color with a large foamy brown head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was bitter and somewhat harsh with a floral hop element. The flavor was bitter and floral with a rough fruity hop presence followed by anise and a touch of roasty malts. Medium length floral hop and anise finish. Medium body. Meh.

Pint on tap at Lackman for $7. Black body. Thin khaki head. Good, thicker lace. Bigger body. Light to medium strength smooth lightly soft carbonation. More dry finish. Big herbal kind of spicy hop flavor. Savory herbs like basil, maybe some thyme, some tobacco. Light roast. Moderate bitter taste, then a light sweet in the finish. Unusual black IPA... Not really any chocolate, much more herbal and spicy than most. But it’s tasty and interesting
