COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This American-style Black IPA is nearly jet black and perceived to have high hop bitterness, flavor and aroma with medium-high alcohol content, balanced with a medium body. The appearance may trick you into thinking you are about to enjoy a traditional stout beer when in fact your senses are about to be overwhelmed with our Black IPA. Juicy, fruity, floral, and pine from Pacific Northwest hops gives the beer a classic West Coast IPA hop character. The Black IPA is further characterized by a balanced and moderate degree of caramel malt and subdued dark roasted malt flavor and aroma. 7.2% ABV, 85 Hops used: Warrior, Citra, Cascade

Citrus, hints of coffee. Roasted malt, lemon, floral hops on top of coffee beans, bitter finish. Very interesting mix of flavors, works well, another Green Flash winner!

Dark pour from the bottle with a tan head and moderate lace. Nice floral hop aroma and bitter hop flavor up front. Finishes smooth and easy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black pour. A floral ipa by any standards. Hoppy floral taste with some malt balancing things out. Still a solid ipa, didn't notice the "blackness" of It. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Deep rich dark brown coloured body with a nice, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of strong, pungent hops, resin, pine and alcohol, all with bunches of roasted malt and some very nice tropical fruits, somehow! Medium-bodied; Assertive roasted malt at first that fades to a very nice hop flavour of tropical fruits and resin, all with a large hop bitterness at the end and a perfect balance of malt. Aftertaste shows a good balance but even better hoppy finish that has some sweetness as well. Overall, a great Black IPA that is the epitome of the style - hops everywhere, but a great balance of malt and a very strong complexity. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington, Virginia (Clarendon) on 09-March-2014 for US$8.99 sampled at home in Washington on 28-March-2014.

Bottle: Poured a deep brown with reddish hints to the edges, head was two finger thick fluffy tan to light brown. Aroma is juicy hops, very fresh. Taste is big bold hops bitter front with a roasted coffee and malt balance. Nice spicy finish to the tongue.

Tallahassee, Fl. – New Leaf Market – 22 oz. bomber. Deep dark as coal pour with a thick sticky mocha colored head. Aroma has some eggy accents, a brief touch of spruce. Flavor is full bodied and delicious. Nice bittersweet citrusy accents, a touch of licorice, some minty rye accents, some nuttiness. Thick, rich mouthfeel. Another solid entrant from Green Flash.

650 ml. bb 07/21/14. Opaque ebony with a lasting disc of cream. Aroma of spicy green herb, resin, espresso, dark toffee, citrus and a hint of cocoa. Tastes of resinous herb, espresso with cream, bittersweet baking chocolate and some orange toffee. Medium body finishes charry and dry with a slight astringency and has a smooth low level of carbonation.

Pours black with white head. Aroma is chocolate dark malt with a bit of citrus and floral hops. First thing that stands out is the extremely smooth velvety texture, and it has a subtle roast dark chocolate taste, but also caramel. Mostly though its hops. Tropical fruit juice hop flavors with some piney bitterness. Pretty great stuff.

Jet black colour. Roast and hops are well integrated and backed by some pungent hops and caramel. Bitter brew with the focus being on the hops, sports a surprisingly medium body but a very nice brew none the less.
