Our Citra Session™ IPA is brewed with high-quality Marris Otter and Vienna malt but the flavor is dominated by the Citra hops introduced throughout the boil and again in the dry hop for maximum aroma intensity. Notes of lemon, orange and grapefruit make this hop-laden brew a perfectly potable summer session IPA.

There is a date on the bottle that says 01/23/15 (best before date? seems a bit far off). Appearance: Fantastic clarity in a light gold body with a fluffy white head that leaves lacing. It looks absolutely beautiful. Aroma: Oh wow, the hop aroma just leaps from the glass. It smells wonderfully fresh. There is a strong pungent scent, very dank, and a very rich citrus scent. It is slightly catty but not unpleasant. Really it is a perfect aroma. Taste: Right off the bat there is this nice toasted bread crust flavor and a light earthy bitterness. A bit woody with a touch of cedar at the end of the drink. Very mellow for an IPA but it tastes really good. Palate: It has a pretty average palate. Nothing really stands out in this department. The bitterness is a bit mellow which doesn’t cause the palate to suffer but it doesn’t do much to elevate it either. Overall: Yes, I definitely enjoy this beer. It is very well made in the malt selection giving it this nice bread-like undertone and a very fresh hop flavor and aroma sitting on top. I really would highly recommend trying this beer out. Living on the opposite coast that this beer was crafted in, it still tastes very fresh. I would buy it again.

22oz. bottle, golden pour with some head and lacing. Weak nose of oily lemons. Watered down flavors of lemons and bitter grapefruit. Astringent bitter finish. Not much to write about. Its good for what it is, a Session IPA.

Sample at Aces & Ales Tenaya. Clear pale golden color with a medium thin white head that burns away steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing. Aroma of citrus, hops and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of dank citrusy hops and roast malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a lingering grapefruit and hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle to glass. Pours a clear pale golden color with an off white head. Wonderful aroma of citra hops, funky fruits, light pale malt. Flavor is a bit astringent, fleshy fruits. Light in body and very drinkable, but with a funky lingering aftertaste. Fantastic aroma, but somewhat strange taste. Still overall a solid session ipa.

L’exubérance du citra est sans équivoque et la résine de pin accompagne tout le long de la gorgée. Le corps passe de mince à moelleux, bonne amertume, buvabilité incessante.

Bomber. Pours a pale straw-gold, slight haze, fluffy white head with excellent retention and lacing. Nose is passion fruit, resin, grapefruit, some basement dankness, melon, grass, earthiness. Mouth is dry and medium bittere throughout, lots of grapefruit, some lemon zest, slight bread notes on the back end, finish is fairly long and pleasantly bitter. Another solid brew from GFB and another nice SIPA down the hatch. Perfect for the August heat and its accompanying 97% humidity that we’re enjoying here in the City of Big Shoulders at the present.
