Our Citra Session™ IPA is brewed with high-quality Marris Otter and Vienna malt but the flavor is dominated by the Citra hops introduced throughout the boil and again in the dry hop for maximum aroma intensity. Notes of lemon, orange and grapefruit make this hop-laden brew a perfectly potable summer session IPA.

Pours clear golden with a thin white head, very fine lacing, very good retention. Strong resin aroma with some lemon, grass, and biscuit. Light body, crisp, medium carbonation. Lightly sweet, strong bitter, lingering gentle bitterness. Very nice drinkable IPA.

Pale gold with a small white head. Good, solid, medium bodied IPA, with citrus and grapefruit flavours. Well balanced with a nice bitter finish.

Respectable beer, bright citrus hop aroma and bitterness. Flavor is bright bitterness and juicy citrus, lemons and grapefruit, some resin notes. Easy drinking and enjoyable.

June 19th, 2013 - San Diego’s insatiable lust for IPAs continues with the development and budding of new branches of hoppy brews and related styled. Here we have Green Flash’s go at a hoppy brew that you can drink again and again. And again. And again. The idea of a session IPA seems counterintuitive - interactive drinking with strong flavors yields diminishing results, palate fatigue and even illness if flavors are too strong. With that in mind, I’m walking into the Hop Odyssey Citra with the understanding that flavor intensity will be lowered a bit to make way for unquenchable thirsts. I do note, however, that this is a striking beer, and looks rich and full of verve and vigor. It reflects sunlight beautifully, and while the head is quick to collapse, the lacing produces neat little continents around the glass. The aroma is hoppy, fresh and young, with a skinny, resinous weed quality, and the flavor is diluted. Though it is here where things taste diluted. There’s still a hop note, and no mistaking the style (or perhaps this beer’s region - Hop Diego, USA), but it’s a bit lighter than usual, put still putting off those weedy, grassy notes.

This is a beer that I really wanted to try and I finally found it in a liquor store cooler. Best by 1/25/2015. Pretty light, yellow to gold color with a white head. Aroma is citrus (orange and lemon) with a slight dankness to it and a hint of pine. Flavor is hop dominated throughout with lots of citrus (orange, ruby red grapefruit). The beer is dry and there is a moderate bitterness that persists into the long finish. The bitterness level is appropriate. Mouthfeel is pretty light due to the low SG/OG. Overall a very nice beer.

Not bad for a session ale but founders all day and easy jack from Firestone walker far better. The first taste her is watery followed by a more pleasant citrus and hop finish. Good but not close to great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a nice amber color with a moderate to small white head. Aroma is of a nice bouquet of juicy citrus, lots of oranges, grapefruit, light tropical notes and bread crusts. Taste is a nice punch of juicy citrus, grapefruit, light lemon, lots of fresh oranges, light doughy bread notes. Very tasty session IPA.

Bottle at home. Aroma of stonefruit, passionfruit, jasmine, pine. Extremely light bodied. Feels frail. Pleasant, dry, Kolsch like finish. More like an APA than a SIPA.

Nose is pleasing with a big citrus, dank bag o weed nose, hints of sweat socks. Flavor more citrusy, bitter grapefruit rind. The attempt at making it a sessionable beer seemed to have failed a bit though, creating a palate that is very watery, thin, crackery dry malts easily dominated by hop resins that swarm all over the palate. Not as drinkable as it could be. Hazy pale gold with nice lacing.
