COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
While developing the recipe for our White IPA, we lined up malted wheat and more than a dozen hop varieties to select the three hops with the most citrus character: Simcoe, Amarillo and El Dorado. A citrus hop explosion leaps from the glass with big tangerine aromas up front, while hop flavors of bitter orange zest dominate and linger to the finish.

Bottle. Very light colored, more or less golden yellow with a big pile of white foam. The equally bright citric aroma carries over a foot. This drinks with a very acidic sting of fresh lemon and orange, sticking to the inside of the mouth. (#5736, 9/14/2014)

Tap. Mostly clear light orange pour with a small foamy white head. Tangerine and citrus jumps out on the aroma - awesome. A bit of spice and cracker as well. Juicy taste. Nice bitter edge with a well balanced finish. Very nice brew.

Bottle. Golden body with a frothy white head. Aroma of clove, lemon grass, tangerine, grapefruit, tropical fruits. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. A bitter wit with orange, lemon and grapefruit tastes thrown in. One of the better balanced white IPAs I’ve had.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 12/4/2014. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy bright gold color with a 2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, coriander, clove, white pepper, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/grassy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, coriander, clove, white pepper, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Good amount of herbal/grassy bitterness and yeast spice on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, coriander, clove, white pepper, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and balance of citrus/grassy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and fairly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent white IPA. All around great complexity and balance of citrus/grassy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Nose of citrus - orange, tangerine, mango - some wheat notes as well. Flavor is bigger than the aroma, lucious hop flavors from across the alpha acid spectrum, beginning with semisweet touches of mango and pineapple, moving through some moderate piney flavors and finishing with a pleasantly bitter pine-herb flavors. Hop resins wash the mouth throughout and linger into the finish. I’m not typically into WIPAs but his is a very fresh bottle and this beer really rocks when fresh. (labeled 8/29 in house at the store from which it was purchased).
