nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Apr 11, 2009 Source: 22oz bottle purchased in Washington DC. Appearance: Hazy gold color with a two finger white head that dissipated slowly and left a lot of lacing. Aroma: Very floral, with pine notes and some citrus. Flavor: The flavor is all about citrus. Tangerine and grapefruit dominate, with a solid resin finish. Palate: Medium body and slick, sticky mouthfeel. The bitterness hangs around for a while, but it is very pleasant. Overall: The second best IIPA I’ve ever had. I’ll buy this whenever possible.
sigma23 (217), , Maine, USA Apr 9, 2009 pours a copper/orange with thin white head that laces the glass. aroma is floral hops with an over lying citrus. drinks with a bitter hop bite upfront with a nice orange, tangerine and grapefruit. smooths out on the finish with a nice malt back bone. finishes with a pleasent bitter with a long lasting after taste that makes you want more. great brew! Butters (1623), Virginia, USA Apr 5, 2009 Sampled at the Impromptu Butter’s 6th cellar clearance. Clear orange pour with good white head and decent lacing. Wonderfully fragrant floral hop aroma and flavor is bitter but extremely well balanced with honey A little watery, it just needs a little fuller body. Sweet and bitter finish. One of the best Imperial IPA’s i’ve had. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Apr 5, 2009 Pours a lacing off-white head with a clover honey color body. Smells spicy of hops, pineapple, and evergreens. Dark honey fading to cotton candy flavor. Taste pineapple and peppery hops. Bitter finish. yobdoog (1429), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Mar 31, 2009 I really enjoyed this one. Not incredibly bitter and has a nice body. A bit creamy and nice malt presence. Big and delicious. shawnm213 (884), South Bend, Indiana, USA Mar 30, 2009 bottle from bevmo in la jolla. a high gravity, hoppy beer. very drinkable for being 9 percent alcohol RHeastings (380), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 28, 2009 Updated: Apr 30, 2009Enjoyed via draft in a tulip glass. Pours a light copper to perhaps a medium gold. Nose of wonderful American hops. One definitely gets notes of Columbus in particular, although these aren’t mentioned on the bottle. Hops up front on the palate, middle of the palate, and end of the palate. A nice malt complexity adds just enough balance paired with a dry finish makes this dangerously drinkable. hophead21112 (110), Louisville (LEWISville), Colorado, USA Mar 20, 2009 Golden/yellow pour with a decent one finger head. Good retention. Average lacing. Caramel malty sweetness on the nose and pine/citrus hops. Flavor starts off with the malt and finishes with the hops. Good balance. A little off-flavor that I can’t really put my finger on. Not too distracting, however. I would say that it lacks the overly hoppy & malty characteristics of the DIPA, unfortunately. A nice, quaffable beer but I definitely expected more from this brewery.
