[Bottle from Beermouth tasted with the hop-bros at Jessí cosy inn.]
Filtered look with amber colour and huge head. Aroma of pine and other fruits combined with grasshops. Flavor of malted fruits and alcohol ending up in a bitter finish.

bottle from total wine. semi-cloudy amber, not overly carbonated. aroma is big grassy hops, herbal earthy happy hops, peaches. medium body, a hint of malt fades into an explosion of hop flavor. the bitterness is perfectly balanced against the 9% alcohol and is not over the top. just a ton of wonderful hop flavor and a dangerously drinkable beer. damn.

Didnít really get the pineiness others are repoerting,it was all hops alright ,but a more field grain aroma, certainly pleasant enough, taste was a more lucoius grain hop dominated taste ,with the sticky caramel backing.Alcohol became evident as it warmed ,another great West Coast IPA,but I would label this the proto San Diego hop beer. Thanks Kingpin

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pinecone. Thatís what this beer is all about. The aroma is the twin of one of those pine tree air fresheners, the piniest smell of all time. Extremely clear golden color with a huge head. The palate is full and sticky. The taste is tons of pine, huge hops and that is about it. This is different, but unbalanced.

22 ozíer ... pour a nice light, bright orange, with a massive airy, rocky head. of white foam. Pure hop nuggets assault the olfactory glands on the first whiff ... wow ... quite the tease for the hophead like me. As I begin to drink it, the utter oily, resiny hoppiness starts pouring down my gullet before the first bit of liquid touches the lips. Surprisingly the beer itslef is less brutally hoppy than all that aroma suggests. Instead, itís nice and even-keeled with a decent citrus hop flourish, but without being overwhelming. Still a lot of resiny, oily hop here, but blended into a light-to-the-lips beer. Wow. (#2758, 3/18/2007)

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: APR 21, 2007 Rather standard looking, clear copper colored with a thin creamy white head. Aroma is fantastically piney and floral. Taste is the same, but well steeped with substantial hop presence. Mildly sweet throughout the taste, and perhaps just a hint too bitter. $5/22

Enjoyed on 3/15/2007...
Green Flash Imperial IPA pours a nearly clear, orange/bright and shiny copper color with a creamy off-white head. The resulting crown lasts from beginning to end and leaves impressive lacing that looks similar to falling rain drops. The juicy citrus aroma has lots of orange and grapefruit. There is some light pine toward the backside of the aroma as well. A sweet caramel malt base hits first and then there is a gradual layering on of hop flavors and bitterness. The hoppiness is full and mostly juicy citrus flavors (grapefruit and orange). The bitterness is fairly aggressive, but it doesnít hit all at once and therefore doesnít seem like 101 IBUs. Instead, it builds slowly so it kind of sneaks up and then nearly overwhelms the palate. The finish is just dry enough and is accompanied by a lingering tart grapefruit bitterness that bribes you or maybe dares you to take another drink. The carbonation level of this beer is pretty mild which creates a mellow, creamy, and smooth mouthfeel. This is an extremely well constructed beer. Not only does it look, smell, taste, and feel great, but the alcohol (9% ABV) is also extremely well hidden which really makes this beer dangerous. If there was such a thing as a "session Imperial IPA" then this would be the one! However, it is just so good all around that taking time to really enjoy and savor this beer is the proper thing to do...
22 oz bottle procured for me by illinismitty. Thank you Sean! I appreciate your thoughtfulness. This was a killer Imperial IPA!

22 oz bottle. Good pine and dry citrus aromas. Copper body with off white head and good lacing. Flavor at first was like chewing on a citrus tree branch and dry hops. Middle and finish is when the malty syrupy flavor of oranges made this more enjoyable. Easy on the palate, good brew.
