"San Diego-style IPA, as it has come to be known by many, is a super-hoppy, high gravity, yet highly quaffable ale. Green Flash Imperial IPA is created in this new tradition, with intense hop flavors and aromas from a unique blend of Summit and Nugget hops. Itís all about the hops!" -- Brewmaster Chuck Silva

Deep golden color with big fluffy off white head. Sharp pungent hop nose with tons of pine resin. This is a huge beer with lots of pine and grapefruit bitterness. Pinapple, apple sauce, red ruby grapefruit, manderin orange and pungent sharp focused hops all balanced on a firm bready malt foundation. Really great IIPA.

22 oz bomber sampled thanks to drewbeerme. Pours a clear orange amber with a tall head. Grapefruit resin, floral, juicy aroma that Iím really enjoying. Grapefruit, citrus, pine, and floral notes with a lasting hop bite. A tasty imperial ipa.

Translucent copper brass in color with an oily, frozen tundra white overlay for the head. Aroma catapults from the bottle, blessing us with Nugget goodness. Dry peaches and apricot chews meet a dried out picnic blanket, sun inundated orange rind and ripe mango papaya butter. Itís got it all going on. Flavor rolls in with dry apricot bitterness, pursued by a semi-peachy oiliness. Harsh bittered hops pick up the tempo in the post sip, reveling dry and scratchy. Another sip increases the bittered flavor and scratches the middle of the tongue. Gummy mango with harsh bitters. In your face, to say the least. Cumquat huskiness fornicates with ripe, young tropical flavors and bitter realizations. Fuller bodied with the bittering hops doing a fine job to consol the natural carbonation at admirable administrations. Peach fuzz and clementine rind give a fruity finish before the harsh bitterness settles in for the night. Thanks for the bomber, tpkenned!

22oz. bottle. Strongly piney, herbal and green hop aroma, juicy, fresh and enticing with lighter notes of tangerine and a very faint toasty malt backdrop. Light-medium golden amber color, clear, with a slight but persistent head. Flavor does seem to properly showcase the hops, being full of resinous pine and vivid orange, with a certain dried, leafy, herbal tinge throughout and plenty of spicy bitterness to coincide with the much less substantial malt presence, this being more felt than tasted, but does contribute a light, honeyish sweetness and toasted grain character that is mostly noted about midpoint. Clean and perhaps even gently abrasive on the palate with a touch of warmth, body is sufficiently full. I certainly would not be unhappy if this were available in my area regularly. Thanks, Brian!

UPDATED: MAY 9, 2008 2008-05-08. Orange amber body with a modest white head. Big hoppy aroma, resiny hops, green leafy notes with a hint of sweat socks. (7+) Flavour is quite bitter with a good amount of resin character. (7+) Average to medium palate. Pretty solid. 8/3/8/3/15-16 3.8 Bottle courtesy of Swoopjones <P>April 2007. Bottle. Hazy golden amber body, small off white head. Hoppy aroma with light lemon and tropical fruit notes. Very bitter with more tropical fruits. The bitterness is not particularly balanced by the malt, but the hops are nice, with lots of lemon flavours. Average palate. This is very good, but just does not quite hit that magical hop reverberation in my palate today to take it to the next level. 8/3/7/3/15 - 3.6

UPDATED: MAR 29, 2008 Bottle (650ml). Shared with blankboy, jerc, mabel, mds and tupalev - my bottle via trade with DarkElf - DarkElf+ Fest í07!!. Cloudy light orange, smallish white head. Incredible sweet, resiny hop aroma, heavy pineapple and citrus, mild alcohol, light malt - very appealing. Straight-ahead bitter hop taste (slow in developing), light fruit, increasing alcohol - nice, but a little one-dimensional. Average body, very astringent, mildly acidic, decent carbonation, very long bitter finish - very very good .. but not necessarily great. Re-rate March 29/08

22oz bottle via trade with Crosling! - Thanks Nick! - Pours amber with a fair offwhite head that fades back to a ring but leaves some lace. Aromas of grapefruit, and pine pretty much. Flavor is hoppy in the fore. Good grapefruit, pine and a little malt behind it but very much leaning to the hoppy side. Resinous palate and some slight alcohol warmth on the back of each sip.

UPDATED: FEB 15, 2008 Bottled in bomber. Solid IIPA offering from yet another san diego brewewy. It must be in the water? Big, bold, flavorful, but dangerously drinkable. Io like the blend of pine and the increased dose of caramel malt than what is found in their west coast IPA. Flat out, just a nice drinking brew - good for any time of the day. Solid.
