"San Diego-style IPA, as it has come to be known by many, is a super-hoppy, high gravity, yet highly quaffable ale. Green Flash Imperial IPA is created in this new tradition, with intense hop flavors and aromas from a unique blend of Summit and Nugget hops. Itís all about the hops!" -- Brewmaster Chuck Silva

I enjoye this fine brew as my first pint o fthe night at liars club. It certainly was a solid double with loits of hop and body, and it was surprisingly smooth for being an entire 9 percent. Still very very hoppy and very good. good job green flash, good job.

On cask @ Hamiltonís. Cloudy, honey-colored body with a lasting, white head. Lovely aroma of honey, peaches, and lots of floral hops. Body is full with light, soft carbonation and a semi-dry, mouthwatering finish. Flavor is orange, peach, honey, grapefruit rind, cantelope, and terrifically well-hidden alcohol. This was very enjoyable.

GABF 2006: Clear golden color with an off-white head. Hop foward aroma with huge fresh piney hop. Caramel malt makes its way through. The flavor is piney and resiny but balances with the malt. This isnít light on the bitterness in the finish but lighter than you might expect after all the aroma and flavor.

Pour is golden with a dense white head...smell is green fresh hops...almost herbal...taste is strongly bitter and taste like chewing on a hop...wow...again, herbal comes to mind, but herbal in the good way...

Light golden body w/ a small thick white head. Aroma is fairly hoppy, mostly a grassy piney note w/ some real light sweet carmels. Palate is full, thick, and creamy. Flavor is heavily citrus w/ lots of carmel malts and some other ligth fruits. A well balanced IIPA.

GABF 2006. The beer pours to a golden clean body with a creamy white head. The aroma is full of fresh hops at times, but at other times, I have trouble detecting them. The flavor is citrusy and extremely caramelly, some pineapple. Extremely well balanced and creamy palate.

On tap at the Liars Club in San Diego. Clear amber coloured with a small head. Hoppy with notes of grass and pines. Slightly sharp mouthfeel. Slightly malty with a bitter aftertaste.

Green Flash tasting @ RFDís: Pours to a clear yellow body with a small white head that seems to fade more quickly than their West-Coast IPA but Iím nitpicking here. The aroma is intense pine, fruit, hop perfume, peach, zest. Taste is salty fruit, melon, and intense pine, grapefruit, apple, hot & spicy grass, with a light alcohol burn throughout.

on tap - McMenaminís, Philadelphia: medium slightly hazy copper brown pour with fluffy white head. Powerful aroma of grapefruit skins and sharp citrus. Flavor packed a whallop of hops (Columbus? Simcoe?). Very long lasting hop bitterness. First few minutes of drinking it left a strong acidic flavor in the back of my throat, and that would have been my only drawback to this beer. However, whether it was the alcohol, or the hops eating my throat, or just my taste buds getting used to it, it became quite enjoyable.
