Swolf3 (252), Elkton, Maryland, USA Oct 25, 2008 Bottle. Poured orange in color with nice white head. Aroma was hops, citrus, and a little caramel. Taste is malt, caramel, and floral hops. Nice texture and clean finish. A Solid brew. alexsdad06 (1056), Ohio, USA Oct 25, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Pours a clear orange amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma is a big citrus sensation with orange and grapefruit dominating. The nose is rounded out by sweet caramel malt and some pine. The flavor has a nice caraeml malt base from which the hops do their best to dominate. Again, the hops are mainly citrus (orange and grapefruit) and pine. The bitterness builds with each drink. Medium bodied with a dry finish. The alcohol is not a factor in the flavor which at 9% is nice. I find myself drawn to the West Coast IPA/IIPA. patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Oct 24, 2008 bomber - Pours copper with a big, fluffy white head. The aroma is a wonderful blend of citrus and floral accented hops. The flavor is of course really big on the hops with the citrus notes coming through very nicely. It has enough malt to give it a good medium body and a bit of balance, but clearly at 101 IBUs, beyond what is said to be detectable by the human palate, this beer is all about the hops. There’s a long, bitter finish to this palate wrecking brew. My love affair with double IPAs continues. Rciesla (3515), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Oct 23, 2008 Bottle. Wow an awesome dipa that i love! Pours a golden amber body with an off white head. Lots of citrus pine and grapefruit. A nice non fruity finish in this IBU Bag of a brew. j12601 (1153), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Oct 21, 2008 Updated: Jan 5, 2009Bottle. Second time I’ve had this, first being before I started keeping notes, and I was delighted to pick up one just to rate, as I recalled this being quite delicious. And right I was. Pours a golden hazy color with a hefty white head, reminds me of a dark unfiltered wheat beer. Plentiful aromas of hops, citrus, fresh pine trees and a hint of apricot. Ample pineapple notes. Malty with a smooth mouth feel that ends with a big bitter hoppy finish that leaves me feeling like I’ll be picking up a few more of these 22s. Excellent beer. Re-rate with some notes from having this on gravity cask at the Beech Tree. brokephibroke (137), Mead, Colorado, USA Oct 21, 2008 Medium copper pour with avg white head. Sweet pine and heater nose. Nice palate bring the entire mouth and nasal passage into play. Bitter, fried foods, citrus and malt - very well balanced. Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Oct 19, 2008 Extremely hopped beer, prominently featuring the Nugget which might just be my favorite hop. Smells great with the typical pine and citrus aromas, but unlike many IPAs the base fruit taste is orange instead of grapefruit. Unique and delicious. MuttyD (93), Cambridge, USA Oct 18, 2008 Cloudy orange pour with thin white head. Very hoppy and peppery/spicy aroma. Flavor is very bitter, hoppy, and displays a strong malt character. Bitter and dry finish. Hoppy character sticks around well after the beer leaves the palate. Amazing IPA.
