DougShoemaker (2855), Toronto, Canada Oct 2, 2008 Aroma is piney, light copper, small tan head. Taste is quite citrusy, a decent malt underpinning as well. Medium bodied, quite bitter. Very good example. Thank You Torontoblue BigBeer45 (676), Troy, Michigan, USA Sep 30, 2008 22 oz. bomber bottle from Vintage Estates in Ohio, has a orange and yellow hazy pour, there are touches of peach colors in this brew , has a white and off-white fine bubbled two finger head that leaves nice lacing on the glass, a generous amount of effervescence that continues, aromas of grassy and floral hops with earthy and weeds hop fragrances (nugget hops?) in the background, toasted malt, sweetness and faint fruit citrus aromas, lots of hop bitterness with malt, flavor of bitter pine hops with pale malts, toasted malt and some caramel flavors, lemon fruit and citrus on the tongue, has a big hop bite and faint burn on the tongue, I did not taste any alcohol when this was cold, alcohol shows up as it warms but the alchol is hidden very well, mouth feel is more then medium with generous carbonation, a nice balanced IPA2 with the tilt towards the hops that is easy to drink. keepersj12 (774), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA Sep 29, 2008 Very, very good. Aroma taste everything hops. Great citrusy pine. Extremely dry finish. beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Sep 28, 2008 Pours a cloudy golden color with a thin white head. Solid aroma of resinous, fruity hops. Very good flavor of resinous, fruity hops with a dry, bitter presence in the end. The body is light with a liquorous texture and gentle carbonation. Sregnar35 (729), Rotterdam, New York, USA Sep 28, 2008 Really good stuff. Pours amber with a small lacing foamy head. Aroma is very grassy hops. Flavor stings with hops, and finishes smooth with a citrus and malt flavor, very nice for a hop head. jujubeast6000 (772), Houston, Texas, USA Sep 25, 2008 (bottle): Pours a clear honey-red body, frothy white head, good lacing & lasting. Grapefruity, bitter aroma. Hoppy bitter taste, real bitter, dry. Like sticking your face in horsefeed. Rougher as it warms up. Brigadier (1217), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA Sep 25, 2008 22 oz bottle
A fabulous example of the West Coast imperial IPA style this one was actually not as much of a hop bomb as I was expecting. I find that a good thing; it lets other aspects shine through instead of be dominated.
Aroma / Appearance - The copper transparent body is engulfed by a pillowy soft white head. Clear lines of lacing give it life as it settles. The aroma of fresh rose petals melds with oranges and a hint of malt to form a near perfect combination for my nose.
Flavor / Palate - Creamy caramel hits the tongue first followed by orange and chocolate. Lodged in the back on the tongue the bitterness takes root as it settles in the throat. Mellow and drinkable for the style I would not mind having this again - it’s a good thing that I can now buy it locally. fakepurseninja (772), Washington, USA Sep 23, 2008 Great hop lineup. Has all the compoents of a Hop-Heavy-Hitter with the big malt body to back it up. Very resiny and piney with a strong floral essence. Nice.
