COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"San Diego-style IPA, as it has come to be known by many, is a super-hoppy, high gravity, yet highly quaffable ale. Green Flash Imperial IPA is created in this new tradition, with intense hop flavors and aromas from a unique blend of Summit and Nugget hops. It’s all about the hops!" -- Brewmaster Chuck Silva

Poured into a snifter from bomber, clear light orange, subtle nose but what there is is nice...touch of grass and subtle hops. Hides ABV well, quite chuggable and delicious. Price was nice too. I approve.

660ml bottle. Pours a golden orange with a large, off-white head. Aroma is green hops, semi-dry, exotic fruits, gooseberry. Taste has a quite wallop of a resinous combination of piney hops and stiff caramel. Not too sweet though. Some juniper along with the pine. Turns fruitier and drier on the finish as well as bitter. Aftertaste is stiffly dry with pine. Palate is quite full with some carbonation. Good, definitely good, if not the best IIPA out there.

From the bottle. Hazy amber with a large froth. Takes a while to die down to thick lacings. Floral and citrus aroma is powerful. Plenty of dryness and a bitter finish complements a malty sweetness. Don’t expect a lot of caramel here. Just bready bitter goodness.

JStax (1669) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - APR 19, 2013
Poured on draft. Pours a nearly translucent copper with a white head of foam. Aroma is all pine and little fruit. Some herbal qualities come through as well, but they are minimal. For a double IPA, this beer is sort of lackluster. All bitter and no flavor.

Bottle. Bottled on April 11th - 5 days old! Sweet, baby! Pours golden and pretty clear. A light orange with an off-white head. Aroma is a ton of hops and it’s juicy as hell: Big bitterness, citrus, pineapple, some mango, grapefruit, oranges, tangerines, lemon, and a small amount of the alcohol but not a lot. Not any malts to speak of. Maybe it’s too fresh :) Taste follows the nose pretty well. Extremely juicy and bitter - so nice. Pineapple, mango, sweet oranges/tangerines, pine, typical West Coast stuff. You don’t taste the 9.4 % but you feel a warmth in the throat - but it’s not unpleasant at all. I’m having a hard time finding any lacks in this beer. Spot on on the style! Maybe, it would prefer it even more bitter, but I have to say this is one of my favorite DIPAs - especially when it’s only 5 days old :D. Green Flash Brewing Company, you guys rule!

Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a big rocky head. Aroma of booze, caramel and faint hops. Flavor is hugely bitter, quite sweet. The mouthfeel is thick. Finishes with a tinge of sour. There is an incredible dearth of aroma hops in this beer.

On draught at the Amsterdam Cafe in San Francisco. Sweet, with grapefruit hops. Amber with little head. The aroma is again grapefruit, and a little perfumey.

22 oz. bottle- Pours hazy golden with a two finger head. Aroma is hops, citrusy piney hops, spicy too, not much malt in this one. The taste is nice and dank, piney and resinous, wonderful, citrus is there, but more dank than anything, malt takes a backseat in this one thank God, but you do get a light sweet malt taste in there somewhere. Body is medium and carbonation is medium high. I really enjoyed this one, hops man!
