4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
FROM NOTES: July 1. ’12
Poured from a 22oz bomber into tulip glass.
A: Smells like a Christmas tree with tons of pine hop notes and a nice malty sweetness. Faint apricot notes and no alcohol on the nose.
A: Pours a hazy golden orange with a half finger off-white head that quickly dissipates leaving only a white ring around the glass.
T: Like chewing on pine needless or biting into a green pine cone, but in a good way. Delicious piney hops well balanced with the sweetness of the malt. Some fresh grapefruit as well. No alcohol taste.
P: Sticky mouth-feel with a medium body, nice carbonation and no alcohol burn.
O: Excellent beer, definitely one of my top three Imperial IPAs

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
from a bomber. aroma of pine, wood chips, earth, caramel, oatmeal, cereal. pine is the main scent. pours a cloudy reddish bronze with large foamy off white head. good retention and beautiful, superior lacing. first taste: sweet grains and cereal, fruity hops, wood, light roast coffee, general smokiness. Taste starts with a sweet blend of pine and fruit hops (apricot, pair, apple) with a buttery caramel and maple syrup malt backbone, finishing bitter and tart with pine and citrus notes. palate is crisp and clear yet full bodied and appropriately bitter. perfectly carbonated. well done. overall, an impressive imperial that balances pine and fruit hops with rich smokey wood malts.
