| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 27, 2008 The beer pours a rich cooper colors with a crazy thick off white head. The nose is big grassy hops with an underpinning of malts. The taste is all about the hops. The hop bitterness is very forward but there is still some good balance that carries through to the finish which is somewhat sticky but dry and hoppy. rayOfBeer (318), El Cerrito, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jul 26, 2008 Poured from tap a copper color with medium sized off-white head. Aromas of citrusy and pine floral hops. Flavor is much the same with a big gratefruit and pine resin bitterness balanced with a good malty caramel sweetness. The palate is thick but smooth with a big malt mouthfeel and a nice balance with the sweet and bitter. There is a slight hoppy harshness in the middle but still top rate in my book. I’d drink this over and over. GMUcrew7 (360), Mason, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 20, 2008 Pours nice copper color with big lasting off white head. Aroma is predominately pine hops with a hint of citrus. Somewhat underwhelming pine hop flavors, but it does have a nice malt sweetness to balance the flavor. Has a somewhat sticky palate and the alcohol is well hidden beneath the smooth mouth feel that improves as it warms. The hop flavor is a little muddied, which takes away from the overall quality of the beer. A good beer but definitely not in the upper tier of DIPA’s. BuckeyeSammy (455), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 20, 2008 Not much of a nose. Piney hops, heavy malt character. Full palate, maybe a little citrus mixed in there. mar (1807), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Jul 18, 2008 (On tap) Upon first glance this beer gives the illusion of being very crisp. This is because the hops really hit you, and then leave a very cold taste lingering in your mouth. All the criticisms I gave for the "West Coast IPA" apply to this: too heavy seeming from the high alcohol content, not enough complexity, and not enough balance. And the quality of the hops isn’t particularly interesting. There’s just a lot of hops but it’s not like there’s much going on in the hop aroma. I’ll pass on this one. aubreya (676), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 17, 2008 The color was light golden with orange hues. The head was thin, fizzy, and off-white. The aroma was pine, hops, alcohol, and citris. The flavor was strong hops, pine, citris, alcohol, and waxy/bitter. The palate was thick-bodied. The finish was hoppy. emacgee (1864), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jul 17, 2008 Pours a sharp copper amber with a two finger creamy white head. The nose is sharp and citrusy, apricot, pine, spicy, juicy. The flavor is very sharp and spicy, waxy astringent bitter hops, warming. Liked the nose a lot more. Waxy bitter warming palate. Piney grapefruit peel finish with some warmth.
