Commercial Description:
"San Diego-style IPA, as it has come to be known by many, is a super-hoppy, high gravity, yet highly quaffable ale. Green Flash Imperial IPA is created in this new tradition, with intense hop flavors and aromas from a unique blend of Summit and Nugget hops. It’s all about the hops!" -- Brewmaster Chuck Silva

dark amber pour with a good off white head. big piney hop scents on the nose. awesome thickness with a smooth flavor of piney hops and a nice finish with a smooth bitterness.

(On tap) Upon first glance this beer gives the illusion of being very crisp. This is because the hops really hit you, and then leave a very cold taste lingering in your mouth. All the criticisms I gave for the "West Coast IPA" apply to this: too heavy seeming from the high alcohol content, not enough complexity, and not enough balance. And the quality of the hops isn’t particularly interesting. There’s just a lot of hops but it’s not like there’s much going on in the hop aroma. I’ll pass on this one.

The color was light golden with orange hues. The head was thin, fizzy, and off-white. The aroma was pine, hops, alcohol, and citris. The flavor was strong hops, pine, citris, alcohol, and waxy/bitter. The palate was thick-bodied. The finish was hoppy.

Pours a sharp copper amber with a two finger creamy white head. The nose is sharp and citrusy, apricot, pine, spicy, juicy. The flavor is very sharp and spicy, waxy astringent bitter hops, warming. Liked the nose a lot more. Waxy bitter warming palate. Piney grapefruit peel finish with some warmth.

22 oz bottle poured into a tulip glass has an amber color and a thick white one finger head that fell slowly. hop aroma of both peppery and floral fruity, candy sugar sweetness, grapefruit, pine, and pollen. medium thick mouth feel with plenty of carbonation. hop bitterness leads into sweetness, grapefruit, citrus peel, and pines. finish becomes very dry with a lingering pine bitterness. definitely all about the hops with enough malt and sweetness to keep it well balanced.

On tap at Toronado. Pour was an amber orange with a white head. Aroma of floral hops. Taste was sweet, hoppy, and malty. Finish is not overly bitter. Mouth is also not as sticky as some other IIPAs. Not bad.

Bottle. Nice floral hop aroma immediately grabs your attention. Flavor is sweet malt and bitter hops, with pine and floral hints. The ABV is well hidden, would not have guessed 9%.

Bottle from bigmmartin. Light amber with a nice clean white head. Floral pine hop aroma which is quite good. Flavor is slightly sweet with a long bitter finish. Smooth, cleansing, and drinkable but not overly impressive for an Imperial.
