hoppopotamus (182), Santa Cruz, California, USA Sep 7, 2009 A hazy straw colored beer with a nice fluffy off-white head. Aroma is sweet, juicy citrusy and flowery hops. Flavor is a lot of citrus hops, a bit of a caramel malt, and ending with a long, strong hop bitterness. Really well done here, good DIPA. HopBackDoc (393), Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 7, 2009 Poured an amber color with soapy white head. Aroma of citrus hops. Flavor was loaded with citrus hops, caramel malts, and more hops, finishing with a nice slightly dry and bitter tinge. Really well balanced Imperial IPA that truly satisfies and makes you want more. petematte46 (213), Dallas, Texas, USA Sep 1, 2009 Some nice malt sweetness but not enough. Citrus and pepper hop raise promising aromatic but just falls short on malt complexity. Not bad. Britton (6), Hadley, Massachusetts, USA does not count Aug 31, 2009 Very clear amber presentation with a 1/2 finger white head. Smell of fruity tootie hops. Citrusy, tangy hop flavor with a just a hint of that garlic business bennylava mentioned. A hint of alcohol complements the hops. Glad I grabbed one. Very drinkable for the abv. Bov (5403), Bienne, Switzerland Aug 27, 2009 courtesy of fiulijn - cloudy dark orange colour with a little slightly beige foam; aroma of quince marmalade and cream, dusty; full-bodied and fairly bitter, fruity and hoppy finish - robust but decently balanced and fairly complex bennylava (83), California, USA Aug 22, 2009
22oz bomber. I’ll likely rerate this beer again, and it will probably be much higher. However, in this tasting, I couldn’t get past the onion aroma and garlic flavors in the beer. I later read some homebrewing forums and these flavors are noticed by some when using large quantities of Summit hops. Gmoney (250), ManchVegas, New Hampshire, USA Aug 19, 2009 22 oz bottle..hazy golden pour with a dense, off white head, good lacing.mild pine and stronger grapefruit aromas .sweet caramel malt flavor gives way to a solid hop bitterness.medium bodied, slick, with a soft carbonation.very good. elihapa (1034), Honolulu, California, USA Aug 17, 2009 Bomber, poured into Tripel Karmeliet tulip. Color is brilliantly clear and light orange. Aroma is intensely floral and grassy, and a deep sniff will also reveal lemony elements. Flavor starts with fresh cut grass and flowers, sharp hoppiness rounded by some sweetness in the middle and a sharply bitter, spicy, and flowery finish with a touch of grapefruit. So hoppy it almost sizzles in your mouth. Boy, that bitterness stays with you in a lovely way. Alcohol contributes a touch of astringency in the finish, but in general, the hops overwhelm it. Overall, this is as expected a delicious brew. It is intensely hoppy, and a great display of West Coast brewing. The clarity and color of this brew are truly world-class. For some reason though, it can’t surpass GF’s West Coast IPA.
