Commercial Description:
"San Diego-style IPA, as it has come to be known by many, is a super-hoppy, high gravity, yet highly quaffable ale. Green Flash Imperial IPA is created in this new tradition, with intense hop flavors and aromas from a unique blend of Summit and Nugget hops. It’s all about the hops!" -- Brewmaster Chuck Silva

22 oz bottle. Hazy Orange Pour. Aroma is an extremely sharp hop scent - description says Summit and Nugget but it really smells like a whole, unprocessed cascade hop leaf. Taste is mostly just bitter with a little bit of citrus, not nearly as overpowering as you would expect from the aroma. Bitter aftertaste. One dimensional; overrated. $60/Case in PA.

Bottle. A dark golden beer with a off-white head. The aroma is very hoppy with a light sweet malty tuch, the taste is light sweet malty, some caramel, but most hoppy. Medium body with a dry hoppy finish.

Feb. 2007 - Pour was golden orange color with small head and little lacing. Strong fruity aroma. Initially, the flavor was strong sweet citrus with sweet malts as well, very little bitterness. As it warmed, pine also showed up, as did the bitterness. Very fruity, citrusy, almost to the point of being overdone. An ok, not great beer.

Pours a clear, golden color with a sizeable white head. Sweet, citrusy hop aroma. Great hop presence, initial sharpness gives way to a somewhat sweet, nutty body. Bitter, herbal finish. Easy drinking for 9% abv, an excellent beer.

Smells sticky, sweet, malty, ripe fruit and citrus HOPS. Hazy golden orange color, not much head on this pour. Tastes of fruity hops, some honeyed malt, a touch of sweetness balances, stone fruits, citrus, bitterness does not come across as extreme. I’ve tasted this several times next to Port’s Hop 15, and while they are both beautiful in their own way, this is the more complex, fruity and aromatic of the two. Very enjoyable IIPA in which the bitterness does not obliteratte everything else. Alcohol is not noticeable in this one.

Bootle. Clear golden coloured with a small white head. Very perfumed aroma of hops, grass and pine needles. Flavour of hops, grass and pine needles with notes of caramel. Hoppy finish. One dimensional hop juice with no complexity.

Thanks to IEBAILI for the bomber. Slightly hazy amber/orange with a large head. Aroma of grapefruit and pine. Very sweet/sugary with a lot of tangy candy/pineapple. Ends with a fair amount of astringency.
