Huge hoparoma of lychee, orange-peels and grapefruit. Bittersweet full flavour of lychee, pine-needles and grass with sugary undertones. Strikingly bitter finish of grass and lychee. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 1/5 | 12/20 | Jan 31, 2008 Bottled. Somewhere between deep golden and pale amber, firm head. Striking lychee aroma. Full bodied and very sweet. The attempts at balancing the vast amounts of hops results in excessive sweetness, and it feels a bit sticky. The lovely hop flavour fades out into an inky bitter finish. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 28, 2008 22 oz bottle poured a golden color pushing orange. The overwhelming hop aroma was citrus orange, grapefruit, and lime. Nice head that laced around the glass nicely. Hop bitterness matches aroma with a bit of grassiness. Breadlike malt supports the weight of the hops. A bit of residual sweetness remains with honey notes appear. A bit of bitterness remains after the swallow. Nice west coast IPA. sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 28, 2008 Bomber. Clear amber with a frothy white head, leaving spotty lacing. Beautiful tropical fruit hop aroma--pineapple, mango, passionfruit--also tangerine and peach. Big resiny and grapefruit hop flavors infuse a clean and submissive malt body. The resin quality of the hops is pure tasting, not sticky or overly woody. Not overly astringent either, just tingly and lasting. Fine carbonation. Beautiful 2IPA. I’m thinking of building an altar to San Diego area IPAs. Please keep them coming. DTM (541), Winters, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 24, 2008 Poured a golden color and you could smell the hops right out of the bottle. This is the best IPA i’ve had yet. Tasted a bitter citrus on the palate, but no bitter aftertaste. Surprisingly smooth finish.
