| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Nov 15, 2007 Bomber pours a clear a clear gold with frothy off white head and sweet lacing. The aroma is lighter than it should be to be a top notch brew with hints of sweet malts and mild citrus grapefruit hops. The taste begins somewhat neutral then becomes sweet with malts as grapefruit hop bitterness and floral hops bloom. The mouth feel is thick speaking to the gravity of the beer yet with virtually no hint of the 9% ABV. Nice lingering grapefruit hop bitterness. Rastacouere (5552), Montréal, Quebec, Canada

Comments: An archetypal Californian ipa, though with more alcohol and slightly less intense hop aromatics.

Pours orange with a nice pinky sized bright white head. Nose is subdued, not sure if this is because of bottle age or what, but there is hops there but they don’t jump by any means. Taste is sweet, pretty front ended in its heat and piney and citrusy. A good DIPA, but I guess I’m spoiled. FrancoisMtl (61), Boisbriand, Quebec, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 12, 2007 Pours golden orage colors with thin white head. Strong citrus hop aroma. Again, strong american citrus hop flavors but is lacking malts to balance hop flavors and high bitterness. I tasted this one right after Yulesmith Holiday ale and must admit that it would benefit from having a stronger malt profil. This is still a well brewed Imperial IPA but as many of them on the market. Hazmatt (363), Virginia, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Nov 11, 2007 Bottle. appearance is okay, cloudy orange gold color with a small head. Aroma is straight hops up front, citrus hops, grassy hops, alcohol aroma with some fruit as well. Flavor is very complex and changes throughout glass. Alcohol, citrus, some spice, grapes and grapefruit, white rice, maybe even cotton candy, touch of pine. Also manages to have some decent malt profile. As close to barleywine as another style has come for me. Why this beer should be punished for not having the largest body around, I don’t know... that’s why I bump it up to reflect the 4.6 it deserves even though the body was a bit thin. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 6, 2007 22 oz bottle. Poured a clear light orange color. Head was white with decent retention and lacing. Attractive aroma of malty caramel, alcohol, resiny hops, and honey touched cereal grain. Slightly sweet on the tongue with moderate hop bitterness of about 5 out of 10 that lingers. Tasted of peach, caramel, and grapefruity hops. Delicious. hopson (594), Williamsville, New York, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 5, 2007 whoa- An initial piney scent turns into a straight cannabis aroma. No complaints. Then, the beer explodes with a resiny flavor that I quite enjoyed. A very good example of the style. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 4, 2007 The beer dispenses from the 22-ounce bottle a somewhat hazy golden orange to amber with a majestic creamy white head that lingers long before vanishing, lace forms a solid sheet upon the glass. Nose has a sweet malt aroma, pushed by the hop floral aroma, lime like in its crispness, delightful sniff. Start has a decent malt presence, hops provide a huge spicy bite, top is moderate in feel. Finish has a strong acidity, the hops potent in their spiciness, sweet, bitter aftertaste welds itself to your palate, excellent beer, and a delight for hop heads.
