Chipper (179), Red Lion, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 16, 2009 Amber pour with a moderate white head. Very fresh hoppy aroma with a little spice. Very drinkable hoppy taste. Nice dry finish. The alcohol is very well hidden. Great stuff. drowland (1360), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 13, 2009 Aroma is big sweet malt and a lot of FRESH hops, which smells nice, with, of course, a touch of alcohol as it warms. The flavor is up front sweet fermentables (haha) with a nice balance of hops. This is good, but unfortunately it’s not Hopslam or 90 minute... what can I say? I forgot to mention the breathe-out has minor coffee notes... probably the bitterness. b33r (363), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Aug 9, 2009 Very strong IIPA with nice hoppy flavor. Good all around with nice abv that wasn’t overwhelming rcasta (470), El Salvador Aug 8, 2009 gracias ramenen en el lago estuvo refrescante y deliciosa. creo que tambien la probo el pollo. semana de agosto 2009 gdut (4), Pennsylvania, USA does not count Aug 7, 2009 Rich, seductive Columbus Hop aroma. Spicy aroma. Unbelievable taste. True hop head. Perfect amount of bitterness and blend with the citrus finish. A death row beer, in my estimation. skmikeg (70), Poway, California, USA Jul 29, 2009 Pours a brigth golden amber with a creamy white head. Aroma is very hoppy with note of grapefruit, pine, and some fruit. flavor is very hoppy with alot of floral pine, grapefruit, lemon, with some carmel malt is the background to balance it out, has a nice creamy, resiny mouthfeel. overall, a excellent DIPA. GAManiac (1123), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 27, 2009 22oz bottle from Carlos poured into a tulip.
Pours a bright clear golden amber with a medium-sized creamy white head that dissipates quickly and leaves only a trace of lacing.
The aroma is big and just filled with hops. Tons and tons of grapefruit with lots of leafy floral pine. There’s also plenty of caramel malt sweetness but the big juicy hops are the main event here - classic West Coast aroma.
The taste is more of the same with a seriously abrasive hop bitterness up front with some sweetness from the juicy citrus fruits after that. There is a solid caramel malt base and then a nice pine resin bitterness in the finish.
The mouthfeel is sticky and resinous with a soft subtle carbonation and on the heavier side of things in terms of body.
This is an excellent example of a West Coast hop bomb with huge pine and citrus from start to finish and enough malt to keep things from getting out of line. Very, very good stuff. pilsnerrogge (1769), Finspång, Sweden Jul 27, 2009 Bottled: Pours orange with a creamy mid sized head. Fruity pine apple and lychee aroma. Flavour is fruity pine apple and a little bit of liquorice, but only for a short while, after that it is all about resiny, piney hops; love it!
