Commercial Description:
"San Diego-style IPA, as it has come to be known by many, is a super-hoppy, high gravity, yet highly quaffable ale. Green Flash Imperial IPA is created in this new tradition, with intense hop flavors and aromas from a unique blend of Summit and Nugget hops. It’s all about the hops!" -- Brewmaster Chuck Silva

As a total hop-head, I dug this beer, but felt a little ripped off. In my opinion they’ve taken their West Coast I.P.A. and simply ran a different carbonation scheme not unlike Alesmith’s I.P.A. which employs thr micro-bubbles carbonation style if you pick up what I;m layin’ down. Great beer, but....

Bomber. A somewhat cloudy orange color with a big foamy white head. Smells of orange peel and grapefruit. The flavor is an interesting mix between a hoppy IPA and the spice of a Saison. Not the hop-forward IPA I was expecting, but it’s flavor is all it’s own and really drinkable. Quite floral and citrusy. It’s not a must have, but I’ll be trying this one again if they start coming to NC.

Outstanding. Floral. Hoppy. Full body. Not overpowering. The style I love. A really good IPA from a brewery that I am now really in love with. Ship to Missouri!

Hazy, thick, syrupy looking body. Glowing orange-amber color. Large, fluffy off-white head settles quickly to a thin patchy film with a skinny edge. Minimal spotty lacing dots the glass. The nose has a strange buttered graham cracker profile up front, almost like a pie crust. Scents of strong orange and grapefruit hops add sharpness, while cereal grains add a grainy component to the background. The flavor is again heavily based on buttery malts, with caramel and toffee playing big roles. Sour grapefruit hops rush in on the back end. Moderately astringent finish. Medium-heavy, syrupy body. Sits pretty heavy. This is a somewhat strange brew that let me down a bit.

Pours a dark cloudy orange. Notes of hops, pine, malt, and bubblegum in the nose. This beer is all about hops in the flavor! I mean wow. You can taste the alcohol which is a negative here.

Poured amber with a large semi-creamy/frothy white head. Nice aroma upfront with notes of pine, some grapefruit rind, a touch of grass and alcohol. Flavor is surprisingly sweet with notes of pine and a touch of bitter orange/grapefruit rind, backed up by sweet alcohol. Finish is light and dry. Overall I enjoyed the beer, and it was quite easy drinking. I would have liked more assertiveness in the hop flavor, especially in the citrus department, and I think it might have actually been too easy drinking for the style, but still quite well made and enjoyable.

thanks to Saarlander for the 22 oz. bomber. shared with illini08. poured an orangey-amber with a great looking head. hop aroma was OK, but not the crisp citrus and pine I’ve come to enjoy from SoCal brewers. flavor had a long lingering bitterness that while OK, just didn’t quite seem right.

Dull orange and hazy with a firm off white head. Dank, herbal, slightly cheesy, chlorophyll and orange aroma. Spicy, herbal, chewy hop flavor with a bit of orange. Ok body with noticeable hop resins on the tongue. This is a really unusual hop combination. I don’t immediately love it but would like to get to know it better. Bitter finish.
