Commercial Description:
"San Diego-style IPA, as it has come to be known by many, is a super-hoppy, high gravity, yet highly quaffable ale. Green Flash Imperial IPA is created in this new tradition, with intense hop flavors and aromas from a unique blend of Summit and Nugget hops. It’s all about the hops!" -- Brewmaster Chuck Silva

Nicely crafted IIPA. The aroma is earthy hops, some fruityness. the appearance is an attracive red/gold hazy color, white head. The flavor is crazy, citrusy, lemony, bready-like and malty. Very nice. Clear distinction between the aromatic hops, and the hops used to flavor the beer. Finish has a sweet residue on the palate, but is dominated by a grapefruit citrus flavor, which is enduring. Medium mouthfeel. Very nice IIPA.

Bomber into pint glass. Pours a clear golden orange with a thin-medium size white head which lasts. Golden raisins, grapefruit, pineapple, honey in the aroma. Flavor is sweet malt, apricot, pineapple, and grapefruit hop profile. NIce and smooth at the finish. An interesting IIPA - different than most.

Tried this from a cask at Rattle’n’Hum. Fine herbal and floral aroma. Pretty dry flavor, but floral too, can taste grapefruity hops and malt. The bitterness brings it close to the edge. It is a little harsh, but still very good.

On tap at the brewery in Vista. Pours a clear, darker golden body with a finger-width, dense, off-white head that dissipates slowly and remains nicely laced. Aroma of piney citrus and sweet floral hops. Not quite as intense as I was expecting, but abundant. Flavor is resiny and oily pines along with more floral citrus. Some caramels come in to balance this out before a dry, semi-long grassy finish. Palate is light to medium bodied and pretty slick and oily. Overall, a solid DIPA that doesn’t really scream "over the top," but rather seems to focus on its balance. Tasty.

Intense hops indeed. A very piney hop aroma gives way to a flavor that is similar, very resiny and piney, with great citrus character too. The bitterness isn’t as perceivable as the actual flavors that usually accompany it. This is a really nice IPA.

Bottle from Hi-Time. This pours a clear golden-amber color with a thick off-white head. Nice tight lacing. The aroma consists of orange peel, grapefruit, resin oils, but doesn’t scream huge hops. The flavor here is hop oily and resiny up front with clear malt support and citrus grapefruit following towards the back end with firm bitterness. Some lemon and grass mixed in as well. I wouldn’t rate this in the top tier of Imperial IPA’s but it might be the notch below. Very good.

Bottle picked up at Lone Hill. Needed some IPAs... some real IPAs. I haven’t had a lot of Green Flash before, though what I have has been good. Usually gets edged out by a couple of Stones or Pizza Ports. So the Imperial IPA. The aroma is very understated here.. some IPAs you can smell from across the room, but even taking a good beakfull off the top of my pint glass, it was pretty mild. Color is an orangy pale amber with not too much head. The selling point here is clearly the flavor--good, solide aggresive hoppiness right on the tongue. Smooth going down. Nice after taste--hops all around.

Poured from a bomber, amber-orange with medium off white head with lacing. Nose of hops and citrus and freshly cut pine, dry to the taste with a bit of a sweet, malty, finish.
