caesar (2498), Zeist, Netherlands Jun 11, 2008 Bottled, bought in Vejle. Clear orange color, short head. Hoppy aroma, pine, hint of grapefruit. In your face bitterness with a malty background. Straightforward.
Underhook (111), Lincoln Park, New Jersey, USA Sep 6, 2008 Smells pleasantly fruity and citric to balance out the hop assault on my nostrils. Pours a bit paler than some 2IPAs, with a big, beautiful frothy head and one of the longest lasting, soapiest lacings I’ve ever seen for an India pale ale. This beer looks excellent. Flavor is a bit citric in order to combat the excessive hop bitterness, but still doesn’t feel as balanced as the better 2IPAs I’ve had such as DFH90 or Lagunitas Maximus. Definitely worth trying but the best part about this beer is the look about it. grandridge (143), Port Clinton, Ohio, USA Sep 5, 2008 Pours fairly clear with a gloden amber hue and a large white head that decays over time to a rocky terrain in my snifter. Aroma is nice, sweet, never really smelled this nice blend of Summit and Nugget before, resiny but not piney. Flavor is sweet and bitter but not overdone. Leaves a slightly bitter taste in your mouth but not overdone. Solid mgermani (597), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Sep 4, 2008 Pours a lovely but slightly hazy golden-orange with a thin but lasting ring of foam and minimal lacing. Aroma is very, very sweet and pleasantly hoppy. Tastes decadent - a dessert of an IIPA. Hops crisp up the high-gravity malty sweetness just enough to balance but not enough to make it particularly bitter. Body is thick with a nice crisp finish, minimal to moderate carbonation. Very tasty sipper of an IIPA! theisti (1045), Leawood, Kansas, USA Sep 2, 2008 22 oz bottle courtesy of Thaichile. Pour is cheddar cheese orange, hazy, with a pretty off white 2 inch head. Thick lacing, coats the glass from top to bottom. Beautiful in my tulip; I am such a sucker for beers that look like this. Aroma of thick sweet resin, grain and citrus. Bittersweet. Taste is sharply bitter, with resin pine and orange peel. Pretty harsh, but does hide the heat decently. Palate is medium - quite mouth coating, with a lingering bitterness. This is a bitter beer, to be certain. Something about this beer reminded me of fresh Old Crusty. Thanks for sending this one my way, Mark! tiggmtl (4181), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Sep 1, 2008 Pungent resinous citrus hops blend well with sweet underlying malts. Opaque golden-orange coloured body is topped by a decent white head that recedes to a lasting cover with nice lacing. Hop flavour is very resinous with underlying sweet malts. Bitterness is pronounced but never overwhelming. Hop flavour comes across a bit like burnt rubber especially in the aftertaste. Medium full body with medium carbonation. Mild alcohol warming. Tulip glass. Allowed to warm from fridge temperature. Bottle (Brewery Creek, Aug-08).
