Taste is quite bitter has piney and grapefruity hops with some maltiness. Decent, straight forward IIPA. 5000 (2900), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 5, 2007 Bottle: Orangish amber, fairly clear, large foamy off-white head, fairly sticky lacing, no real carbonation to speak of.   Very
heavy pine and citrus peel nose.   Heavy citrus peel on the tongue.   Bitterness isn’t big, nor are the malts.   Seems more of a
1½ IPA.   If you like citrus peel, this is your beer.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate... certainly less than I would have
expected.   Having recently had Oskar Blues Gordon on tap, I gotta say that this one would dissapoint me.   Good, but just seems not
to be big enough.   Smooth, fairly clean, well balanced, but not at the level I thought it would be.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 9, 2008 In short: Lots of hops but too little malt and too much alcohol. A simplistic palette destroyer.
How: Bottle 220z, fresh. From kmweaver, thanks a lot Ken!!
The look: Clear golden body with a medium off-white head
In long: Hoppy nose with an equal parts of pineapples, grapefruits and citrus fruits. Taste is disappointing. The frail body is not enough for all the alcohol. 9% ends up feeling like 11%. Total lack of malts. Alcohol burns the throat and totally kills the hops flavour. It the end it was alcohol, some candy sugar followed by a short and sharp flavourless bitterness and alcohol bite. Some papery notes. I struggled to finish my 22oz. This beer is as boring and brutal as a stuttering uneducated drunk sailor. after4ever (2859), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 1, 2007 22, thanks to the kind hand of BitBucket. Cheers! Dense moussy head on top of a cloudy amber body. A real cavalry charge of a nose; so piney it’s like one of those CAR-FRESH-NERs right out of the package. The body’s nice and full and the attack is bold and the mid-palate is tangy with sylvan redolence, but the finish is a bit of an afterthought. Not quite as complex and lingering as the ABV and the style might lead you to suspect, but as an IPA and a half, this is a hell of a beer. DougShoemaker (2856), Toronto, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 2, 2008 Aroma is piney, light copper, small tan head. Taste is quite citrusy, a decent malt underpinning as well. Medium bodied, quite bitter. Very good example. Thank You Torontoblue Ibrew2or3 (2848), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Nov 15, 2007 Bomber pours a clear a clear gold with frothy off white head and sweet lacing. The aroma is lighter than it should be to be a top notch brew with hints of sweet malts and mild citrus grapefruit hops. The taste begins somewhat neutral then becomes sweet with malts as grapefruit hop bitterness and floral hops bloom. The mouth feel is thick speaking to the gravity of the beer yet with virtually no hint of the 9% ABV. Nice lingering grapefruit hop bitterness. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 19, 2006 Umm, this is an excellent IIPA, not painfully bitter, with a nice pine hop character and high alcohol without the kick to the palate. Very fresh hop aroma and flavor blends with the orange caramel flavor up front. Kinda reminds me of an orange lollypop near the finish. Body has a good weight and is very smooth. Pours a deep golden amber with a soft white head that leaves lacing with every sip. riversideAK (2808), Shoreline, Washington, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | May 4, 2007 This and Moylander IIPA are what I rate all other Imperial IPA’s on. At least when it comes to somewhat readily available IIPA’s. I have not had Three Floyds Dreadnaught, and apparently that is the best IIPA, but this is pretty much it for me. Intense pine floral aroma. As it warms I also get a little fruit punch from the malt. The beer is a golden orange color. The flavor really is dominated by the 101 IBU’s. I get a ton of pine. It is balanced by the malt only slightly, but it is pretty much a hop bomb. A little bit of floral bitterness too. Very resiny on the palate. Dry and heavy mouthfeel. This is my favorite IIPA.
