"San Diego-style IPA, as it has come to be known by many, is a super-hoppy, high gravity, yet highly quaffable ale. Green Flash Imperial IPA is created in this new tradition, with intense hop flavors and aromas from a unique blend of Summit and Nugget hops. Itís all about the hops!" -- Brewmaster Chuck Silva

For some reason, I took a real liking to Green Flashís Imperial IPA. I believe the ludicrous amount of hops may have had something to do with it. Pour is orange and not too hazy. Long-lasting head - slightly rocky. Floral and tropical on the nose. Flavor notes of earth, nectar, pine, grapefruit, orange, and peach. A chewy resinous feel with lots of crispness and bitterness. Thereís just enough malt in the background to keep this ale in line. Yes, itís brisk and boozy, but also quite easy to enjoy.

To snifter. Pours a nice softly hazed bright orange, medium sized head with stucco-shaped lacing. Nose is a healthy blend of pine resin and ripe mango with a twist of pineapple. Flavor is also displaying an ample amount of pine, some citrus rind, and ripe tropical fruit following after. Sturdy malt to stand up to the extremely high alpha hops used. Linger is sticky but no overbearing flavor. Itís pretty solid, this bottle seems to be maybe a month or two old (best by date is in Feb), but surprisingly still hugely hoppy and satisfying. Booze is hidden by all that pine resin. I love piney imperials. And this satisfies my craving almost as much as Pure Hoppiness. This is just a tad sticky for me!

Tropical piney hop aroma. Taste is malty with lots of hop balance. Still finishes with slight piney resin hop, but slight sweet too from the malt. Fairly balanced but hops are a bit overpowering. Good double ipa, and get some nice pineapple hops in the finish, but still feel it is a bit unbalanced?? ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from the bomber, nice orange look. Taste is spicy, creamy, tropical, got that bitter, and is a nice 9.4%. Green Flash does the strong stuff well.
