3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tasted on January 13, 2013:
A: Pours a chestnut color. Has a good lacing and has close to an inch of foam. Foam stays for awhile.
S: Strong smell of citrus and pine. Don’t smell much else. Hops are smelt in there too.
T: Very hoppy in the beginning, but not overly hoppy. Slightly sweet in the end with very strong pine notes.
M: Medium heaviness on the tongue. Still can taste the pine.
O: Not as hoppy as I was expecting for an Imperial, but still quite enjoyable. I enjoyed the taste of pine.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap in San Francisco. Gold with white head. Resin hop and sweet. A sweeter and high alcohol taste than their other ipas. Good citrus notes. Otherwise just a really solid imperial ipa.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured deep clear orange with great foamy pale white head with good retention. Large bubbles made way for some of the woodiest pine and zesty grapefruit I’ve ever smelled on this style beer... Slightly phenolic with a hint of ethanol fumes. Never had this hop variety but damm. Mouthfeel is is a bit tannic but far from sharp. This is a refined IPA very balanced and very smooth with a extra dry finish. I loved there passion fruit kicker and now after 2 home runs Im a fan.

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
For some reason, I took a real liking to Green Flash’s Imperial IPA. I believe the ludicrous amount of hops may have had something to do with it. Pour is orange and not too hazy. Long-lasting head - slightly rocky. Floral and tropical on the nose. Flavor notes of earth, nectar, pine, grapefruit, orange, and peach. A chewy resinous feel with lots of crispness and bitterness. There’s just enough malt in the background to keep this ale in line. Yes, it’s brisk and boozy, but also quite easy to enjoy.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
To snifter. Pours a nice softly hazed bright orange, medium sized head with stucco-shaped lacing. Nose is a healthy blend of pine resin and ripe mango with a twist of pineapple. Flavor is also displaying an ample amount of pine, some citrus rind, and ripe tropical fruit following after. Sturdy malt to stand up to the extremely high alpha hops used. Linger is sticky but no overbearing flavor. It’s pretty solid, this bottle seems to be maybe a month or two old (best by date is in Feb), but surprisingly still hugely hoppy and satisfying. Booze is hidden by all that pine resin. I love piney imperials. And this satisfies my craving almost as much as Pure Hoppiness. This is just a tad sticky for me!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tropical piney hop aroma. Taste is malty with lots of hop balance. Still finishes with slight piney resin hop, but slight sweet too from the malt. Fairly balanced but hops are a bit overpowering. Good double ipa, and get some nice pineapple hops in the finish, but still feel it is a bit unbalanced??
