4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Braudog (4473) - Hampton, USA - MAR 18, 2007
22 oz’er ... pour a nice light, bright orange, with a massive airy, rocky head. of white foam. Pure hop nuggets assault the olfactory glands on the first whiff ... wow ... quite the tease for the hophead like me. As I begin to drink it, the utter oily, resiny hoppiness starts pouring down my gullet before the first bit of liquid touches the lips. Surprisingly the beer itslef is less brutally hoppy than all that aroma suggests. Instead, it’s nice and even-keeled with a decent citrus hop flourish, but without being overwhelming. Still a lot of resiny, oily hop here, but blended into a light-to-the-lips beer. Wow. (#2758, 3/18/2007)

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2012 Earthy citrus aroma, with just a touch of funk -- like an old fruit. A little thin in the palate but otherwise a piney hoppy ipa that’s a great drink. Not exceptional though.

In the winter, Imperial IPAs are the way to go and this one won’t disappoint. A bit of sweetness, but with tons of hops bitterness and taste to go along with it. The thickness of the beer balances well with all those hops.

Bomber @ home. Pours a fairly clear, burnt orange appearance with a big off-white head. Somewhat resiny, piney, mildly grapefruit citrusy hoppy aroma. Rich, toasty, caramel malty, light toffee, big grapefruit, resiny hoppy flavor. Both the malt and the hop side are quite potent and delicious. Piney aftertaste. I love it.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 michaelinwa (162) - Bothell, Washington, USA - JAN 11, 2012
Unimpressive. Aroma is fairly standard fair for IPAs, Pours with a great lasting head. Flavor is mostly hop bitterness with malt far in the background. The hop flavor is mediocre, there is just nothing special going on with this IPA. Overrated, by a long shot.

Woo 22 oz. bomber poured into a snifter. Nice golden hue with exceptional clarity. Smells like a hop bomb, lots of pine, citrus zest, and sweetness in the background. Taste is massive. This truly stands out from other DIPAs because of the incredible attention to the malt bill. Has a very sweet caramel and toffee like back bone and obviously a huge northern California hop profile. Finishes bitter sweet. Mouthfeel is that of a barley wine surprisingly, very thick but not hard to drink. Be careful this beer may take some enamel off your teeth!!! Delicious Cheers!
