COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Le Freak is a modern ale created by converging two beer styles, Belgian Trippel and American Imperial IPA. The use of two yeast strains further marries the styles and American hops give the beer its modern flare.

Pours with a slightly cloudy, golden-orange body topped by a thick, off-whtie head with lots of lacing. It’s slightly sweet and malty with a little spice, a nice grassy hop note and a piney, bitter, lasting finish. Meidum bodied, smooth and a touch dry.

Date: February 5, 2012 Mode: Bottle Source: Misterbeer Description: Opaque yellow-orange with large head and lacing. Aroma is citrus and piney hops, malty along with some belgian yeast. Taste is consistent with aroma, malty end and slight bitter finish. Seems like DIPA is the better style for this one as that is how it tastes with a touch of belgian yeast.

Draft - pours caramel with off white head. Nice lacing. Nose is pine. I don’t see how this is a Trippel. California hop.

Poured to a hazy orange with a nice white head. Had a Belgian aroma. Upon tasting, I immediately got the citrus and herbal taste at the top. I didn’t really get the sensation of this being an ale in any way. That said, I fully enjoyed this brew!

Bomber. Pours hazy orange with a huge cream-colored pillowy head that takes its sweet time receding; leaves some awesome decorative lacework. The first thing to hit the nose is the Belgian yeast, which imparts clove, old books, and a little banana. The American hops take a backseat; there’s a bit of citrus hiding in there, but it’s pretty faint. Taste is as described: an interesting union of the two styles. It’s lightly sweet and a bit meaty but it turns bitter quickly and remains that way through the finish; the bitterness lingers. Carbonation is medium and the body is full. It tastes like an extra bitter Tripel. I would have liked more PacNW hop flavor here--citrus, pine, resin, but this is really good.

Bottle, 22oz, at Patricks. It pours an unclear, golden-orange body under an inch of dense off-white head. Sweetish, fruity nose with a biscuity touch and some orange. American style hops lurks in the back. It’s full-bodied, smooth and with a light warming touch on the palate. Nice bitterness in the flavor, along with sweet maltyness, fruityness and a touch of caramel. Lasting bitterness in the finish. A nice beer indeed, I suspect it has lost a bit on bit on its way across the Atlantic, as it is not very crisp, but it’s still a nice one. 120202

Bottle. Clear gold with a huge white head that last pretty well. Aroma of dough, oranges, cloves, vanilla. Sweet with oranges and light caramel before sharp citrus and pine with some spices. Plenty of bitterness. A little alcohol at the end too. The hops crash through - I can’t really tell how short of dry it finishes - and it’s not an elegant drop, but it does what it promises.

Interesting beer. Pours amber orange. Good carbination has a decent white head. Aroma is like a saison and has barnyard hints and lots of yeast-dough aroma. Not getting ipa aroma at all. Flavor has a hint of citrus, but mostly belgian ale flavors...again, yeast, orange peel, etc Overall, pretty good. Not sure this can be called a hybrid ipa with the flavor and aroma. Seems more saison like than anything

Draught. Light copper pour with a medium off white head. Aroma of yeast, bread and crisp hops. Medium bodied taste of hops with a sharp finish. Drank like a Belgian IPA in that it lacked that typical bone dry tripel finish, but still really good.
