Sregnar35 (729), Rotterdam, New York, USA Apr 14, 2009 Good stuff. Aroma is very very hoppy. Flavor starts overwhelming hoppy, yum, but finishes yeasty and sweet just enough, really good. ToddA (16), California, USA Apr 12, 2009 Not the first time for me to try this beer. Seems like the last time was better as the IPA factor and the Belgian Tripel factor were combating each other versus complementing. Sort of a train wreck but in not the worst sense to the term... jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 11, 2009 2009-04-10. Lightly hazy orange body, good sized foamy head and lace. (4+) Strange aroma, spices, florals and hops, mild grassy undertones. It is pleasant but a touch bizarre. Flavour is fairly bitter, modest resin, mild alcohol, muted yeasty undertones. The triple shows in the depths but the overtones are all about the hops. (7+) Lingering hops in the finish. Average plus bodied palate. This is pretty nice but I can’t imagine drinking more than a small serving in a sitting as it is a bit odd. Still, rather interesting. Bottle shared by GregClow Pwn3d (1040), Manhattan, New York, USA Apr 10, 2009 On tap at rattlenhum with tom. Served in a wine glass. Pours copper and has hop aromatics. I would say this is more on the ipa side then a trip. But damn good and I appreciate the uniqueness. I would say this is great for an ipa and good for a Belgian. I’m looking forward to trying more from this brewery. beerandIT (177), Richmond, Virginia, USA Apr 8, 2009 This is a fun one. Really falls away from an abbey tripel but who gives a damn? I sure don’t. Of course it has many more hops then most trippels probably legally should. Cloudy but beautiful golden color. Tons of hops in the nose and citrus there as well. After a few sips though I could taste the trippel trying to break through. Medium bodied. I like it though great name for a awesome beer. I recommend you pick up a bottle or two. Hey hit it on style or whatever but just remember what the name of it is and I think you have to forgive any errors in style accuracy. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Apr 7, 2009 Bomber from City Beer Store in SF. Pours a fairly clear golden color with a white head and good retention. Decent lacing. Aroma of banana, yeast, and piney hops. Flavor starts like a tripel with sweet malt, yeast, banana, and spice, then progresses into a citrusy hop finish with noticeable alcohol. Great example of a great style hybrid - would maybe like just a little more malty sweetness to balance the aggressive hops. Palate is medium with hoppy stickiness. agl108 (503), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 6, 2009 22 oz. bomber courtesy of lamas. Poured clear golden amber with a skim of white head. Some lasting splotches of lace. Starts sweet then progresses to a piney, citrusy bomb. Some banana notes coming through as well. Finishes very dry. Very nice, reminded me very much of La Chouffe Houblon. redave (133), squaw valley, California, USA Apr 4, 2009 Pours a hazy cloudy orange amber yellow, with a large fluffy white head.
Aroma was pretty limited, either it was me or something, but i couldn’t detect much.
First sip.... interesting spices..
then... hops... mmm different than some other Belgian IPA’s I’ve had. more spices, more hops..
also, can taste and feel the alcohol...
nice sticky lace down the side of the glass.
Some build up of hop flavors. nice
I like it.
