JMerritt (1313), Macomb, Illinois, USA Mar 20, 2009 Clear coppery orange with a large, off-white head that is partially diminishing, leaving a thin-walled layer of lacing around the edge of the glass. Aroma of apricots/peaches, banana and graham crackers with a bubblegum sweetness towards the end - a strange yet enticing amalgam. Juicy fruit flavor initially, turning moderataly bitter with some slightly biting pine notes. Sweet banana & clove floats in underneath the bitterness lending great balance. Finish is bubbly, dry and mildly bitter. Lively carbonation. Wow, what an interesting combination, IPA and tripel. The harder you look for the components of either style the more you find, yet overall can be enjoyed on its own merits. HenrikSoegaard (4265), Randers, Denmark Mar 20, 2009 Bottle. Creamy white excellent fully lasting head. Yellow-orange colour. Moderate malty and heavy hoppy aroma. Strong grapefruit/lime notes. Fantastic fruity-bitter flavor with graoefruit notes. Long complex great finish. Exellent creamy palate. Wonderfull beer. TChrome (1298), Bedford, Texas, USA Mar 19, 2009 Beer pours golden color with a nice, big fluffy egg white head that is retained. Aroma is mostly yeasty, with just a hint of the hops. Flavor is right on with the big Belgian Trippels. Lots of yeasty goodness with a significant bitter finish which is unusual for the style. This is imressive beer IMO in the sense that Green Flash, a West Coast brewer, is producing a Belgian style quite well. Yum. mmmbeer (737), Austin, Texas, USA Mar 19, 2009 22 oz. bottle served in trappist glass- poured slightly turbid copper orange color, low-medium carbonation, half finger white head with small bubbles and laced to a degree. Aroma of citrus, yeast, pine, and a note of peppercorn. Hits the mouth with a high-medium body, malt is there and has a pleasant sweet tang to it, some hops and spice in the middle, finish is complete and has notes of unrefined sugar, spice, and yeast. Very interesting- and dang near gone since I started writing this review. LooseCannon (914), Norfolk, Virginia, USA Mar 18, 2009 22oz bottle. Pours clear amber in color with full foamy tan head. Aroma sweet, citrus hops and spicy. Taste spicy, yeasty and cirtus hops with bitter grapefruit finish. bradlyc77 (226), Sebastopol, California, USA Mar 18, 2009 Pours golden with belgian yeast aroma. Nice malty base upon which some grapefruit/citrus, pine, and belgian yeast flavors can be found. Nice moderate/high bitterness. Finish is of belgian yeast. Unique and interesting. Madsnp (611), Odense C, Denmark Mar 18, 2009 Bottle. Sligt hazy golden with a nice lacing egg white head. Aromas of hoppy grapefruit, peaches, oranges, banana and flowerfields in the springtime. The flavour is sweet an malty with a hoppy and bitter backbone. Notes of caramel, bread, lemon, spicy pepper, pine and grapefruit. Crisp. mpersinger (176), , California, USA Mar 17, 2009 From bomber, pour shows amazing clarity and moderately high carbonation in a straw-colored ale. Aroma and flavor feature clean hops from pale ale component and sweet malt residuals from trippel. Lean but not weak in body. Finish gets hoppier and bitterness outstrips the alcohol warmth.
