COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Le Freak is a modern ale created by converging two beer styles, Belgian Trippel and American Imperial IPA. The use of two yeast strains further marries the styles and American hops give the beer its modern flare.

Draft at their Cellar 3 brewery served in a pint glass; clear amber color with white head. Aroma notes of fruity Belgian yeast, pine/grass hops, some pepper and almost doughy malt. Taste adds more citrus, honey sweetness almost and some Belgian spices. Medium-heavy body, moderate-low carbonation, dry, almost creamy with lingering pine/spice finish. Some depth of a tripel but very much a DIPA, very good.

Bright amber and gold with a thin head and a floral, hoppy nose. Medium carbonation and medium mouthfeel with a mild, grapefruit finish.

On tap at Pintville. Great aroma of honey bread. Golden, no head. Tasting vanilla, oak, yeast, malt, citrus honey. Nice feel - seems organic. Well done.

Bottle shared with my brother, who picked this up. Belgian yeast, a nice grassier and robust yeast character than your average dipa. Good spiciness. Hops stand up to the strong malts. Nice beer.

Bottle, 660ml. A clear amber beer with a big white foamy head and a lot of gas. Aroma is mainly of hops and belgian yeast, but also of citrics and orange zest. Taste is bitter with a citric aftertaste. Medium bodied with some carbonation and astringency. Aftertaste reminds me of a strong citric IPA with a hint of a belgian beer. Very nice.

Bottle, 66cl. Clear golden with a frothy to creamy offwhite head. Fruity hop aromas with hints of pine, grass, Belgian yeast. Robust bodied with moderate carbonation. Rich, creamy and smooth, with a slight astringency. Delicious malty sweetness with a stinging hoppy bitter finish. Extremely drinkable and just delicious really.

With a nose of sweet Belgian candy sugar and a rich orangy amber gliw Le Freak really appeals to the senses. Nice light graininess on the palate and a succulent spicy sweetness, there is a good structure and long development throught the bomber.

Appearance is golden amber, with a frothy beige head with somr lacing present. Nose of fruit and pine with underlying traces of grassy earth mixed with spicey Belgian yeasts. The palate is fruity with a clean lemongrass essence that helps pull in the earth and honey like finish. Medium body with a clean dry finish and lingering hops fitting the creative minds who imagined this hybrid.

Clear orange gold with a medium white head. Aroma of pepper, stone fruit, grass. Taste is spicy, black pepper, fruit, flowers, very complex. Reminds me of Epic Brainless IPA, but though I like the Epic, Green Flash just does it better in every way.

From a 65 cl bomber generously shared by Ster of Amsterdam’s BeerTemple at her place. Apparently an intentional hybrid (hence the name as well, I suppose) of tripel and DIPA, with coarse, fairly thick, lacing, stable, egg-white head and deep amberish orange blonde colour, hazy with deposit. Rich and pleasant aroma of orange peel, dry cookies, pink grapefruit, mango, cantaloupe, biscuit, red apple, dry white wine. Sweetish but ’cleanly’ fruity onset, honeyish malt sweetness underneath, refreshing citrus peel, resiny and aromatic hoppy finish coming across as indeed very DIPA-like, with grapefruit, some pine and tropical flowers as well as a dash of warming alcohol. Lovely beer, whatever the style.
