Commercial Description:
Le Freak is a modern ale created by converging two beer styles, Belgian Trippel and American Imperial IPA. The use of two yeast strains further marries the styles and American hops give the beer its modern flare.

(22oz bottle) Purchased at Brewery Creek in Vancouver, BC. Great big, foamy white mountainous head with a clear, deep amber, highly carbonated body. Nose of amarillo and cascade hops and a bit tinny aroma finish. Great sweetness, wild yeasti-goodness, strong pine flavour with a lasting bite. I’d definitely have this again, very nice 8/5/8/4/16

Bottle shared with Turbo during his feedom holiday. Hazy gold body with white head. Left good amout of lacing on the glass. Too much belgian grainy, yeasty and spice aroma and flavor to get my attention that this has two styles to it.

One of several New Years Eve delights shared with friends. Hazy deep brassy gold with a thick robust white head. Fruity aroma of pear and melon and pineapple with some subtle yeast. Fruity palate correlates well with the nose with the yeast still present. The finish is where the IPA character comes in with a sure-handed bitterness. To me this seemed like a hopped-up saison more than anything. Well done!

Bottle from Davis CoOp. This brew is an interesting mix, as the Calique from Stone. I found the pairing of the strong grapefruit on the front end disruptive to the palate. The piney/fresh citrus approach is much more palatable than bitter citrus. Still, it was a worthwhile try.

Definately belgian dominating here. got little of the IPA. Very sweet and yeasty. Maybe I missed something because most people refer to the hops here but I didnt get a great deal of them from this one. Still enjoyable

Pours a hazy golden color with thin white head. Aroma is a bit of citrus and floral hops combined with some Belgian spice and light yeast notes. Taste is almost saison like with the yeast imparting an interesting funk to the mix of IIPA and Belgian spice. This is a terrific BSA.

Pours a medium golden color with a medium creamy white head that fades thinly and leaves lots of streamy lacing. Aroma is like a hoppy saison - yeasty, spice, pine, pineapple. Taste is creamy, citrus, bitter hops.

Bottle, bought at Vinens Verden, Odense. Pours a great, clear golden with a giant, creamy, yellowish head. Fine, large bubbles in the liquid. Great duration on the head. Super aroma, lots of hops, pineapples, apples, yeast, pine. Pleasant mixture of the two styles. Lovely dry and very creamy mouthfeel. Flavour start super lovely sweet, good doughy malts. Then a hell of a lot of hops hit me, sweet and fruity. Grapefruit and pine. Lots of dryness, apples, pineapples, pine, apricot. Grass and hay with a great, dry finish. Wonderful beer!
