Le Freak is a modern ale created by converging two beer styles, Belgian Trippel and American Imperial IPA. The use of two yeast strains further marries the styles and American hops give the beer its modern flare.

The hoppy Belgian thing has yet to impress me and this is no exception. Something about the yeast and hops just don’t blend together in a pleasant way for me.

Bottle pours bright orange hue with a small soapy white head and sparse lacing. Nose is piney belgian yeast notes husky. Flavors arw piney slightly sweet very lit alcohol unrefined yet interesting. Lots of belgian malt and piney notes. Lots of sweet malts and hops with resinous undertones. Decent stuff.

Pours a dirty blonde with a big white head and a very pleasant, sweet nose with a touch of West-coast hops hiding in it. Flavor pulls off the Belgian-IPA marriage better than most, with the slightly fruity and spicy character of a tripel and the distinct floral hops of DIPA both shining through. Backside is long and warm Excellent stuff.

Bottle shared. Huge peach and passion fruit, lots of fruity hop fun, bready body, fairly dry finish. Great stuff, dangerously smooth, a proper hopbomb with a Belgian twist.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Sparrow-Uptown, 4/22/15

Aroma: Aroma of Belgian yeast, lemon pledge, pepper, as well as some floral and grassy notes.
Appearance: The pour is golden-orange in color with a lasting sheet of beige head and light lace.
Flavor: The flavor is fairly yeasty, not much sweetness, pepper, and a lingering bitterness.
Palate: The body of this beer is medium-plus, with a little bit of booze that you mostly get in the mouthfeel, it has an average-to-lively carbonation, and eventually it has a fairly dry finish to it.
Overall Impression: This beer works pretty well. You can feel the ABV a little more here than in most in this style, otherwise, it feels fairly familiar. Definitely nicely made.

Draft. Perfectly clear pale golden-orange, with a frothy half-finger head of pure white that quickly fizzles to filmy spots and a substantial bubbly ring. Some long streaks of lace are left behind as I go. Lots of coriander in the nose, along with fresh grass, lavender, pears, green apples and white pepper. There’s a nice, crisp spiciness here, though it becomes somewhat soapy-smelling as it warms more. The flavor follows through on the aroma’s promises, for the most part. Great tripel flavors with increased bitterness. It’s a floral potpourri of dried roses and lavender, bitter lime peel and some subdued pear juice before a rather dry finish. Low carbonation. The alcohol is a bit noticeable in the flavor as well as the nose. A dry finish is compounded by bitter hops inside a smooth medium body. One of the better Belgian IPAs, though it leans a little too far toward the Belgian side for my tastes. I could use some more hops.

Where and how: USA. Bottle 650? ml.
Aroma lovely floral element of hops, grapefruit, tannins with floral Belgian ambient. Alcohol present but not tardy.
Appearance :
Top: just for its kind, bright white, lasting, creamy with pleasant to eye lace on glass.
Base: clear, sparkly amber.
Palate : full heavy bodied , mid softer, drier sides, some heat at end.
Taste: very solid blend of west hop hops will Belgian influenced. Fairly balanced fuse. Sadly alcohol tad too prominent for my liking. That is probably its only fault.

Hoppy but tastes like a Belgian. Weird. Not bad. Christmassy flavor. Orange in color.
