Commercial Description:
Le Freak is a modern ale created by converging two beer styles, Belgian Trippel and American Imperial IPA. The use of two yeast strains further marries the styles and American hops give the beer its modern flare.

A golden ale with a thick off white head. In aroma, pleasant floral c-hops ver intense Brett, bready malt, light fruity esters. In mouth, a good biscuitty malt with loads of hops, earthy Brett, grapefruits and warming alcohol. Orval meets IPA. Wow. Tasted August 21, 2009.

Somewhat cloudy copper with stranded lacing. Nice mouthfeel, somewhat tangy honey character. Good clean aftertaste with floral hop bitterness.

Pours a cloudy apricot-orange with a medium white frothy head. Aroma is of citrus and other light fruit, cream, and a little spice. Flavor is a burst of unexpected hops, making this taste like a stronger pale ale or light to medium IPA. Not Belgian anymore after those hops kick in, but still pleasant. Spritzy mouthfeel, medium viscosity. Fun to drink because it’s different. Overall, good.

Bomber thanks to Guardyloo. Pours hazy golden orange, off white head. Aroma is citrus, meaty, and tangy. Flavor is the same and well blended. Nice spicy/bitter finish.

This offering from Green Flash is, in my opinion, one of a kind. I definitely taste the combination of the two styles. This beer completely combines the IPA and the Belgian Tripel. From the bottled offering, I taste the yeastiness and breadiness, along with the dry, spiciness and hoppy tones. This beer combines the best of two of the world’s most flavorable styles. From the bomber bottle, this beer pours a dark golden color with a generous white head. The head leaves a decent amount of lacing around the edges of the glass. The aroma features an inviting sense of bread, yeast, rye, earth and hops. The flavors are even more complex, with notes of bread, yeast, earth, hops, grass, coriander and lemon. I have never tasted the combination of different styles as I have in this beer. This is definitely a unique and an explosive offering.

Bottle... Poured hazy golden/orange with a thick, white head that retained about a centimeter of foam throughout the whole drink. Belgian Tripel-like aroma with yeast esters and soft, floral hops. Foamy texture and soft mellow palate lent itself to a little bit of yeast funk, but not as extreme of boozy as I would hope for. Grains and earthy malts meshed with acidic hops and a tangy, tropical/passion fruit finish.

Extreme Ale converging a SanD IIPA & a Belgian Tripel. Golden color. White head, nice lace. 22oz bottle. This beer is too much of everything good. Yeasty dough and attic aroma. Hints of petroleum, medicinal smells, and big Euro hops. Bubble Gum. Lots of spiciness, (hops or yeast, don’t know?). Full flavored. Rich malt. Big spicy hop bitterness. How great is this.

22oz bottle. Pours a glowing clear copper with a thick frothy sticky dense creamy white head. Aroma is quite fragrant, banana, floral, sweet candi sugar, smooth vanilla adds depth, well integrated juice citrus, and some bitterness 7.5. Flavor is very grapey at first, sweet, juicy and floral, quite soft, doughy, bitter, glassy hard-candy sweetness, lighter citrus, very bitter. Lingering long strongly bitter, green banana, and yeasty aftertaste with a lasting alcohol burn. Medium bodied, lots of sharp but fluffy carbonation, syrupy candy feel. Pretty good for that strong hopped Belgian hybrid style, however, a little straightforward making me lose interest with each successive sip.
