COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Le Freak is a modern ale created by converging two beer styles, Belgian Trippel and American Imperial IPA. The use of two yeast strains further marries the styles and American hops give the beer its modern flare.

Bomber share thanks to Scott. Appearance: finger of white head, straw color, clear, good lace. Aroma: floral, Belgian yeast, light citrus, light wheat. Palate: light body, lively carbonation, light texture, dry and bitter finish. Taste: fruity sweet initially, bitterness kicks in after yeasty start. Overall, very unique, good blend of the two styles.

Looks good, a hazy gold with a dense white head. Citrus aromas with hint of alcohol. The taste is fairly balanced with a sweet breadiness offset by citrus hops. Grapefruit, orange peel, lemon, and papaya notes with some Belgian funkiness. Light body with a medium carbonation level. Smooth mouthfeel and a dry finish makes this an easy drinker even at 9.2% abv.

GIJOE (469) - Monterey, California, USA - FEB 7, 2014
Pours a slightly cloudy orangy-brown with a frothy, white head. Nose is a blend of Belgian farmhouse cider aroma and citrus hop notes. Taste is predominately bitter, but the sweetness of the malt comes through. Medium body, lively carbonation. Sharp astringent finish. Quite good, although not a favorite.

12 oz bottle from Giant Eagle in (Shadyside) Pittsburgh. Had a bad experience from the start with the clerk questioning how I obtained this one in a six pack mixer for $12.99, claiming it belonged on the top shelf in the $50 category. Oh well, just my lucky day. This has to be overrated to the extreme. My thoughts ran to bitter and dry, with a hyped citrus finish. Not appropriate for an Abbey Tripel and just average in all the other categories. There was one left on the mixer shelf when I left if you’re still interested.

Bottle to pint glass Yeast, lemon, and some caramel. Slightly cloudy light amber with a thin, but frothy off white head. Taste is malt, yeast, light sweet fruit, lemon, with a long bitter aftertaste.

Intriguingly dark in the glass, with a honey-caramel hue. Yeast and toffee on the nose, with a floral overtone and a malty roast-meat kind of background. Fruit is dominant, with passion fruit, lemon, raspberry and some clove and other spices. Really rich, with a cutting acidity, and a nice, long finish.

On tap at Tapwerks. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has notes of sweet grains and light fruits with a bit of hoppiness backing. Flavor starts with grassy and pine hops that mellow to sweet grains and light fruits in the finish.

Such a complex flavor. The spiciness of a Belgian Triple with the hops of an IPA. Absolutely delicious.
