Commercial Description:
Le Freak is a modern ale created by converging two beer styles, Belgian Trippel and American Imperial IPA. The use of two yeast strains further marries the styles and American hops give the beer its modern flare.

In a goblet, clear golden, champagne bubbles. Pure white head that lasts about 4-5 mins. Spicy, funky Belgian tripel aroma with strong perfumey hop. Major (unnecessary, IMHO) alchol burn, which overshadows the woody hops, perfume and bubblegum. Feels creamy, fizzy and acidic; it burrrrns! It’s one big, fiery concoction that was decent enough but overall disappointing.

Pours gold with a nice white head. Smells of residual sugar, some spicy hints and peppery. Tastes perfumy and dry with a decent spicy finish.

Sweet aroma with mellow hops. Sweet on the tip of the tongue, develops into a nice hoppy bitterness. Mush more tripel than IPA. Hops are not dominant. Very good tripel.

22oz bottle. Cloudy orange color with a medium off-white head. Citrus hop aroma with some malt and a touch of Belgian yeast. Citrus hop flavor, some spicy yeast and a lingering bitter finish. More IPA character than most beers like this. Good stuff.

Bought it at Whole Foods in Sacramento. Finally, after a long wait I was able to drink Le Freak. Perfect marriage of two great styles. The sweet of the Abbey Trippel with the bitterness and fullness of IIPA.
