COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Le Freak is a modern ale created by converging two beer styles, Belgian Trippel and American Imperial IPA. The use of two yeast strains further marries the styles and American hops give the beer its modern flare.

Bronze, orange-ish tone, strong but not overwhelming, taste wins over kick. Belgian comes through, pour from a bottle to a glass, great head on each pour, drink this now!

Cloudy orange with big white head. Pungent hops aims, citrus, and floral, aroma of Belgian yeast. Initially, this is another green flash hoppy one, but this really really changes as it warns and opens up. Belgian yeast takes a front seat and itís pretty interesting, but not my favourite style.

Aroma: caramel, yeast, floral hops. Appearance: clear gold, small, creamy, white head. Taste: medium bitter. Palate: bitters intensify, getting dry, grain, caramel. Overall: OK Belgian Strong Ale, nice aroma, palate could be more complex. Pint at Green Flash Brewing Company, San Diego.

This beer is great for someone, but not me. Has that weird phenolic belgian strong ale quality with a citrus American hoppiness and bitterness that is just kinda offputting. Well made but not my kind of beer.

"this one attacks the belgian IPA style in a different way than Stone. Where Stone added a yeast strain to an IPA, this starts as a tripple (and from what i can tell a darn good one) and adds a generous amount of big juicy west coast hops. Pine, citrus, yeast, spices and a touch of malt on the nose. Dear Lord this beer is big. The aroma is a good mix of the belian & hoppy characteristics, leaning towards the big hops...til it warms, then itís about 50-50. The flavor of this cloudy orange beer is a frontal assault on the palate. HUGE piney, citrus, and floral hops and a big belgian gumball sweet-spice presence as well. How they got that much flavor and still have a balanced beer, I donít know. The body is medium to full, with a very dry, mouth-puckering lingering finish. Overall, a very good beer, although I prefer the tamer (maybe more sophisticated Stone Cali-Belgique).

Pours with a slightly cloudy, golden-orange body topped by a thick, off-whtie head with lots of lacing. Itís slightly sweet and malty with a little spice, a nice grassy hop note and a piney, bitter, lasting finish. Meidum bodied, smooth and a touch dry.

first things first: proper pouring procedure needs to be observed in order to obtain the correct sampling of this kind of style. you need to get to the cloudy part with all the yeasty stuff. upon the heels of green flashís "palate wrecker" i summarize the situation thus: if green flash brewing simply ends its production of "palate wrecker" and devotes the currently-displaced ingredients and efforts to this here offering instead, that would be a major win, the decline in diversity of offerings notwithstanding. that is what the love of wisdom dictates.

Shared bomber to chalices. Clean deep golden yellow. Malt and yeast aroma. Long lasting bitter and dry.
