Commercial Description:
Le Freak is a modern ale created by converging two beer styles, Belgian Trippel and American Imperial IPA. The use of two yeast strains further marries the styles and American hops give the beer its modern flare.

Pours golden with huge white head. Aroma is hoppy, with some sweet light fruits. Flavor is heavy hops and trippel.Tthe hops are intense, as is the alcohol. Interesting balance of the flavors: cool hybrid. I had the opportunity to try this shortly after trying Chouffe. Definitely preferred the hopiness of this one, but the malt is no where near Chouffe.

draft @ Najas - cloudy, deep orange with foamy white head; in your face bitterness in both aromas and flavors; too much for me as it overwhelmed everything; drinks much stronger than 9%; out of balance and quite harsh; this was a strange beer and not what i expected

Attractive pour of bright gold and thich white head. Nice Belgian nose of spice, clove and banana. Flavor had a bit more hop bitterness carrying into the finish.

Golden orange color with a large white puffy head. Nice aroma. Tons of pineapple and tangerine. The flavor is good but seems a little off. The sweetness of a Belgian Tripel is there upfront but the bitterness that comes next is sort of shocking. The finish is a little harsh too. I get the feeling that the problem is with the execution and not the recipe. Too bad as this one seemed to have lots of potential.

22oz bottle from hophead22.... a cloudy orange caramel brown pour with a moderate soapy white head... aroma was mustiness that coincides with orange peel and tropical pacific northwest hops.... flavors had a medium degree of grapefruit rind bitterness. pretty astringent through the finish and beyond which ultimately became off-putting. some sweetness to start but quickly turns into a bitter beast.

Color is golden with a slight haze, good carbonation and a tall thick head. Aroma is a nice Belgian yeast scent with hop tones and a touch of citrus. Taste is fruity, citrusy and bitter. Starting with a medium body it goes down crisp with a citrus feel coming on. Finish is fruity with good Belgian yeast flavors, some citrus that comes in the form of dried orange peel and a faint floral hop taste and a stout bitterness. After taste a little dry with the bitterness lingering on. This is another great brew from Green Flash, its nicely complex and is exactly what they describe it to be. I love when a brew comes out tasting the way its suppose to.

Pours a golden orange with fizzy white head. Bready malt, candy sugar, orange peel, banana, belgian yeast, and floral hops. Herbal with notes of spice and coriander. The bitterness of the IIPA doesn’t really come through, but the alcohol is fairly well hidden.

My experience with Green Flash has been good so far, but I was still kind of sceptic of their ability to do what they claim on the tin. Bottle. Whatever. This, I thought, will be 90% American IPA, with a token pinch of Belgian character. Pleasantly wrong assumption! Lovely spicy nose, rosemary, dandelion, honey. Rather hoppy, but the hops blend seamlessly with the yeast character and the contribution each make is difficult to parse. Sweet hay flavor. Not actually sweet I suppose, as it seems overall like a very well attenuated beer. But there is something here of the sweetness of fresh cut alfalfa. Light clean malt and a nice chewy herbal finish. Feel like a bigger cousin of De Rankin XX Bitter, and that is a happy thing. I dig.
