COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Le Freak is a modern ale created by converging two beer styles, Belgian Trippel and American Imperial IPA. The use of two yeast strains further marries the styles and American hops give the beer its modern flare.

Pours mostly clear yellow apricot with a big off white, rocky head with great retention and great lacing. The Belgian yeast is apparent on the nose with a juicy fruit flavor, as are the hops with citrus and ripe pitted fruit. Some peppery notes also. Taste is first sweet then the bitter kicks in with citrus pith and pine character which lingers. Some of the pitted fruit appears after bitterness fades a bit and has a semi spicy, peppery finish. Mouthfeel is soft but full and medium bodied with medium carbonation. Good but thought I would like this more as it is a combination of two styles I enjoy. Would rather have a great IPA or a true Belgian tripel or pale ale. ---Jeremy H

Bottle (22 oz). Best by 09-18-15. Split 2-ways.

Appearance: Hazy-cloudy dark orangey with a medium off-white head, medium retention and good lacing.

Aroma: A lot of fruity hops along belgian yeast, medium spiciness, caramel, floral notes, perfumy presence and soap.

Taste: Rather sweet and super fruity with floral presence, caramel, spices, soap and medium bitterness.

Palate: Medium body. Medium carbonation. Spicy finish. Lingering [rotten] fruits aftertaste. Perfumy. I donít know if thereís rye in this, but it gives that impression.

Overall: Rather messy mix of a fruity belgian tripel and a sweet Imperial IPA... not much drinkable or enjoyable. The sweetness and the fruitiness are cloying. Bad idea.

Bottle; pours clear orange gold with a beige head; aroma is sweet with tropical fruits and yeast with some hop spice notes and caramel; taste is yeast with some tropical fruits with spices and faint caramel notes; finish has some hop bitterness and is dry with some faint pepper notes; I was not sure what to expect after reading the label but I really liked this one.

Pours a clear golden. Rich frothy creamy head, lots of lace. Strong spicey fruit and pine aroma, clove, citrus, grapefruit, fruit must, subtle complex fruit combo. Buttery caramel malts underneath. Taste is foamy full body, acidic carbonic twang bite, grassy pine, alcohol heat, dry,dry finish lots of grassy pine in finish, grapefruit. Some sweetness. Not bad for a mixed style I donít go for.

Dark golden color with a taller beige head. Nice lace. Dried flowers, light candi, cookie dough, and hints of resin in the aromas. Hints of alcohol hit the nose at it sets and gives it an overly sweet scent. Quite heavy and a bit oily in feel. Nearly too chewy for a tripel, but just noticed the label, mix if imperial pale ale and tripel, so I guess we might be about right. Quite sweet with a light fruit background of raisins and melon. Plenty of hops bring the resin flavors into play. Some pine and light grapefruit as well. Alcohol is well hidden. Finish is lightly fruity and actually has a bit of grain, malt and dried flowers. Linger is of light fruit and dried pale malt. Interesting but not lacks the finesse of a fine tripel and has the heaviness of a strong pale ale. 2/10

Nice deep golden color with a big frothy head on top. Nice intense hops nose some cilantro too. Intense raw hops taste, super fresh, not unpleasant nor overhyped , flowery. Unbalanced but in a good way.

Huge foamy head. Nice dirty hop smell. Yeasty taste of the bat then a peppery hop end. Thin and dry with a gritty mouth feel. I like this beer BECAUSE of its flaws!

The hoppy Belgian thing has yet to impress me and this is no exception. Something about the yeast and hops just donít blend together in a pleasant way for me.
