Le Freak is a modern ale created by converging two beer styles, Belgian Trippel and American Imperial IPA. The use of two yeast strains further marries the styles and American hops give the beer its modern flare.

22oz split served in a SN IPA Glass A - Pale golden body with a big fluffy white head, nice retention and lacing throughout. S - Belgian yeast, bananas, bubblegum, spicy, black pepper, cloves, spices, some honey an floral notes come out when warmed up. T - Follows the nose with spicy yeast wrapped in aggressive hops. Strong undercurrent of fruit, bananas, apples, and pears, spiciness continues with clove and pepper, some honey floral and grapefruit rind toward the back end. Super dry on the finish. M - Medium body with semi-fine carbonation, very dry on the finish. A very complex mix of flavors. Awesome Belgian yeast with good use of hops. This packs a punch in all ways but keeps it’s balance. Very nice. Serving type: bottle 04-18-2013

cloudy amber color; citrusy hops and Belgian yeast aroma; great, bitter, citrusy hoppy flavor with an underlying Belgian yeast and bready malt; spice notes of a Belgian tripel; dry, bitter finish

Tripel or Belgian IPA? That’s the question. All around wonderfully crafted ale, yeasty and hoppy, pours with a tripel’s high fluffy head. Deep hazy gold, light hoppy aroma, taste has stronger hop elements. Dry, chalky finish, mildly sweet.

Bomber poured into a tulip glass..hazy orange pour with fluffy white head..aroma of bread,spices,hops..tripel comes through in the initial taste, followed by the hoppiness of the IPA..another really good offering from one of my favorite breweries.

Fine beer. Full of flavour, slightly boozy but not too much so. I had this one in a large bottle.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 1pt. 6oz bottle into a chalice. The label has the abv. listed at 9.2% and there is no freshness date. Appearance: The body has a light yellow gold color and a cloudy appearance. Its head builds up tall before slowly settling down to small covering which hangs on well and makes for some nice lacing. Smell: Its aroma has a solid hopy presence with some classic Belgian yeast and sweet malt. Taste/Palate: Up front on this one are loads of classic Belgian funk, yeast and malts. The hop character slowly builds up and adds big juicy citrus and tropical hop notes. The hops finish this one off with a blend of funk and pine like hops. The palate feels full and well carbonated. Notes: The hop flavor was big and bold which made for a very interesting beer.

Pours a slightly hazy golden color with white head. Light fruits, pine, and some yeast on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes somewhat sweet.

Transfer from BA review on 3-17-12 - Served in a 10 oz chalice glass Appearance – Served a hazy yellow-orange color with a small yet compact white head. The head faded slowly giving way to some nice lacing. Smell – A nice potent aroma of yeast cake and banana are the biggest and are up front in the nose. There is a nice hoppy aroma of citrus that really comes into fruition. This is mixed with a nice spiced bready aroma. All the aromas combined to make one fantastic smell. Taste – The taste follows the nose rather nicely. There is a slightly fruity and sweeter bready flavor that meets the tongue. These tastes become more yeasty in flavor more toward the middle of the experience. Toward the end, the hop really comes into play and a nice citrus hop flavor takes the taste experience to the end and leaves a nice lingering flavor in the mouth. Mouthfeel – A nice creamy body with a medium to slightly higher carbonation level. The combo of the two, in this case, create an almost spongy feeling on the tongue. The feeling is warming and sticky with a nice “bouncy” turbidity. It is rather unique and actually very pleasant. Overall – This was quite a fantastic beer. It takes some of the best features of each beer style; the very nice yeasty/spicy/bready/creamy feel of a good Belgian and the great hop flavor of a nice IPA. Very well done!!

Tap at yard house Pasadena. Pours orange with some limited head lots lacing. Nose is quiet, some yeast some fruit. Notes of fruit, some limited candy medium yeast, grassy bitterness. Taste medium bitter, light sweet. Mouth medium body with somewhat silky lasting bitterness and lively carbonation.
