GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Aug 14, 2008 Pours a slightly hazed apricott color w/ a tall creamy head. Good head retention and lacing. Aromas of bitter sweet citrus and tropical spice. Full nectar w/ superb carbonation for a soft, semi creamy texture. This brew has a high pulp thickness w/ a very strict aspirin bittering component that sticks like a rabid ground squirl on a pigs back. Flavors are topical and citrusy w/ a fresh squeezed mild sweetness that tries to tame this bitter beast. The finish is long and bitter sweet. It really leaves an impression on me. BrianDorry55 (117), Spring Hill, Florida, USA Feb 2, 2009 22oz. from trade with GMCC (Gabe)...Thanks man! Aroma is loaded with florals, sweet citrus fruits, spices, and yeast...Rivals Two-Hearted as the best beer Ive ever smelled. Pours a nice amber with a very thin white head. Flavor is unbelievable! Every sip is loaded with different spices, the perfect amount of hops, different citrus fruits, and some grasses...the unbelievable smell is impossible to ignore as you take every sip. The Belgian Strong - IPA hybrid is genius! Leaves a bitter aftertaste and a weird mouthfeel...this is definately the only downside to this beer. Overall...this beer is just fantastic...I need to find some more in this style because its a damn shame I cant buy it in my home state...Cant thank Gabe enough for sending it my way! SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Jan 14, 2009 i can’t stand to see a robot cry, let’s watch T.V.... ever drank a whole bottle of NyQuil just for shits and gigs? ... wheres the wick? $125 for rockstar shit? ... and who is dumb enough to buy a fast food sandwich for $8?... Le Freak, man, glad to try this in my neck of the fat sucked wheather mans neighborhood ... lots of belgian honey hops... damn frigidy good lacing and coco white head ... parole officer says i need an upgrade, or they won’t give me back my stabbin knife... wow, fantastic brew here.. bitter , sweeet, balanced like a eraser on a pencil erasing a doodle of a naked man at that porno dudes house ... so so easy to drink... smooth, enjoyable, the real mccoy ... at&t, ever been to brussels, cuz i want to kick your arse... quite an amazingly enjoyable and crisp bitter example of the hop (and the genius thinking out of the box yeast examples in this brew)and the playful sensation of bitterness on the tongue and complete coating of the trap... ballack, what a goal, but roons was tap-rific! ... i may not make sense to you the reader, who reads my crap anyway, but this is a great beer, great bitterness, smooth as silk, aggressive yet retarded kitten like... buy this if you see it, me personally will be buying quite a few more bottles of this wonderful elixer, or butt sex... DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 10, 2009 Bottle courtesy of Dr. Capone, PH.D. of Brewology. Pours turbid deep golden orangy with 3-fingers of creamy off-white head. Nose is spicy florals, hops, citrus, candi sugar, malt, slight funk. Tastes dry, floral, hoppy, spicy yeasty, with candi sugar, mild funk. Palate is very rich, very complex, bone dry but teeming with intertwined flavors. I dare say this one would stand up to the finest Belgians in a blind taste test, and I’m willing to put this theory to the test if someone sets up a blind USA vs. Belgium Abbey Tripel tasting. I’ll even chip in handsomely for the beer, although I’ll need a place to crash. ghawener (952), San Salvador, El Salvador Dec 22, 2008 Bottle: Back to an IPA, strange mixture between an IPA and a belgian ale perfectly crafted. Fruity herbal, hoppy and slightly malty. Spicey and piney. Excellent. lemasney (398), Trenton, New Jersey, USA Oct 4, 2008 Style and Glass: Begian strong; trappist, tulip, wine

Taste: almost balanced, medium malt, heavy hops, surprising, great strength, high craft. 9 out of 10.
Palate: high quality, rippled texture, long bright finish. 5 out of 5.
Overall: Done in the tradition of Houblon Chouffe Dobbelen IPA Tripel, where the hops and bananas all get in bed together. Definitely a repeat, though maybe not a favorite, okay value, high craft. 18 out of 20. jstraw (750), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 30, 2009 Light orange with good, foamy off-white head / Delicate, floral & perfumey nose of citrus, cream, and dry hops / Light to medium body with some biting hops but with good balance and fine dry finish / Stylish, floral flavors of orange, grass, cream, dry hops, banana, violets, and brett / Whatever it is, it’s terrific. rajendra82 (698), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA May 23, 2008 Traded to me in a brewer bottled 22 oz. bomber by Eyedrinkale as part of the BIF 2008 Race package, Le Freak was poured into a Duvel tulip. The beer looked very clear, golden in color, and had a two finger thick head of foam. The initial smell provided an enticing whiff of hops similar to an IPA, but deeper breaths revealed floral, yeasty, and spicy scents more typical of the Belgian styles. The taste was also a near 50/50 mix of the two influences, with the hops up front, and tropical fruits and yeasty funk shortly thereafter. Candi sugar like sweetness was also apparent and the subsequent peppery phenols were finished off by a bitter aftertaste. I love that this marriage of two styles has managed to present the essence of both in a melded yet distinct manner. Seems like such an ordinary concept on paper, but others that have tried it don’t seem have pulled it off quite as well as Le Freak.
