Hempy, piney, citrus hops are present in the nose. Plenty of Belgian yeast banana esters are in there as well. A bit musty. Aroma is intriguing. Mostly transparent golden body with a medium off-white head that is pretty strong. Starts with an orange-flavored hoppiness, which is pretty tasty. It becomes a little sweet and chewy before the Belgian yeast kicks in to give it some banana flavors. A little ethanolic after that, with some piney, grapefruit hop flavors rounding this up. An interesting brew, but I’d rather have their regular IIPA. JohnC (2287), Mission Viejo, California, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 11, 2007 Draft. Hazy amber beer with a nice off-white head. Light citrus/fruity hop aroma with yeast. Yeasty, estery, hoppy (fruity, some pine (?)) flavor. Medium body. Lingering yeasty hops with the hops coming on more as you drink. MartinT (5080), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 11, 2009 Updated: May 13, 2009My Bottom Line:
An explosive perfume of pine, flower petals and herbs leads to bubblegum phenols and profound resinous hop bitterness in this loud yet personable Double IPA/Belgian-style Strong Ale hybrid.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the misty golden amber.
-The aroma is very complex and definitely hop happy.
-Some pineapple-like fruitiness comes from the union of hops and doughy yeast.
-Even though it is not really balanced, this brew is very flavorful throughout and quite enjoyable.
-The malt character is of sweetened bread.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 24, 2008 Bottled sample via (and shared with) oakbluff. Hazy apple juice yellow in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of lemony coriander, alcohol, orange, grasses, and some pale malts. A bit disjoint (yet intriguing) in the mouth, with the flavors starting out a bit caramel malty before heading back into bubblegum witbier territory, then ending with an earthy, drying (saison-like) bitterness. Lots going on, and fun to taste, but not one I’d want to revisit anytime soon. biznizness (959), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 2, 2008 A rather interesting brew. Much better than I expected it to be. A trippel and IIPA just doent sound like such a great combo, but it was rather good. Pours out a darker amber color with a big white head. aroma was sweet, yeasty, and rather hoppy. Flavor was similar with a dominate sweet finish that becomes hoppy. Like l said, a rather interesting brew.
